The true story of Little Boy.
But who is "Little Boy"? If you ask the members of this StonerPop combo, they will say that Little Boy was the nickname of an illegitimate son of Josh Homme (Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Desert Sessions, Eagles of Death Metal, etc.). Little Boy was conceived by him, in his early years, with a bad bitch from a bloody whorehouse, somewhere in the Coachella Valley, during a "generator party", a sort of wild live of Kyuss, in the Californian desert. Josh never knew he had left a kid when he retired from the bawd he had shafted...
Little Boy grew among thus prostitutes, who gave him this sweet nickname, in this atmosphere of debauchery, drugs and alcohol. He never reproached his father to have left him to this life, as he appreciated the charm of those evenings where he discovered the pleasures of transgression. At this time, Little Boy began to love rock’n’roll music and to try to mount a rock band.
Little Boy had one only little reproach to his father, whom he followed from afar the great success. It was love Black Sabbath so much and not to exploit enough the Pink Floyd legacy. He found that the music of QOTSA and EOFDM music was full of energy and gave a huge desire to move, but it lacked lightness and was not enough etheral.
He therefore decided to create a music that responds to these criticisms. While retaining the power of stoner rock and hard rock, with saturated instrumentals and sharps rhythms, he added that touch of sweetness that characterizes StonerPop: a sweet and warm voice, many choirs, a LapSteel guitar for delicates sounds from Pink Floyd psychedelic side, and simple and effective arrangements, from the Pop-Music.
Unfortunately, Little Boy never managed to find musicians capable of playing this music with him, because he lived at the bottom of a dumb, in the middle of the desert, between San Bernardino and the City of Angels. However, he managed to record its compositions in a small studio in Palm Desert, a remnant of a radio station, abandoned since the death of Elvis. He recorded there more than fifty titles.
These songs could never have left the Californian desert, if, by a beautiful evening of the summer 2007, Little Boy had not been plucked during a poker game, by four French musicians seeking inspiration in the country of desert rock. Ruined, Little Boy was forced to give his songs to his one-night companions demanding to be paid. But he gave one condition: The four musicians had to use them and to seek to make them famous.
The four guys, once returned to France, have been working on the songs composed by the bastard of Josh Homme, in the cellar of an MJC. For nearly two years, rehearsals after rehearsals, weeks after weeks, they adapted a dozen of the title they had inherited, to build a solid setlist. They recorded four of them in a studio and a dozen in their home studio. They also worked in residence to honor on stage to songs they had to live.
In tribute to their benefactor, they used its nickname to call their band. The Little Boy band was born, thanks to a sex party in a notorious bloody mess in the Coachella Valley and a poker game gone wrong in a bar of the Riverside County. This band shows that destiny is open...
