So I have decided to start getting serious about this blog. This is after all a site for my music. So I am going to start by saying that I think this music business is such a tough one. But very exhiliarating at the same time.
Just started getting the gigs that I want in Pretoria, Tings an' Times, Steak and Ale, Barcelona. Places that make an effort to promote local music, with a clientel that are loyal and supportive of the musicians that play there. I have had the privilege of sharing the bill with the legendery Piet Botha and sung with and supported the amazing Clark and van der Hoven. Talented men. Its was a real highlight when I arrived in Mozambique to play at STRAB (www.strab.co.za). It was an honour when you consider the best of the best were going to be playing. I was a little intimidated. But I met a great group of musicians that are very special and supportive.
This crazy career of mine, is split into two areas. The business side and the artistic side. It is hard to give both the attention they need and it is always a balancing act. But as I said, its an exciting place to work. My work is my passion, so the struggle is beautiful in a way. I hope I will always remember the road I am travelling now.
So I march on, as do all the wonderful, talented men and women out there who are riding the same train as I am.
Bye for now! And allow music to enhance your life.
