On 21 July 2007, South African rock icons Wonderboom embark on their second nationwide tour of the year, a tour that will see them visiting 11 cities and 19 venues around the country in support of their critically acclaimed sixth studio album "City of Gold".
With the albums' second single, "Best Side", currently charting on national radio, the band is excited about taking the new material on the road, and with lead singer Cito Otto having just returned from a six-week staging of the play "Jesus Christ Superstar" in Athens, Greece, wherein he played the lead role of Jesus, things look set for smashing performances all round.
Speaking about the song "Best Side", Cito says: "What we wanted to accomplish with this song was the sense of being a Joburger. There's so much brutal crime that would scare most people away, yet there's something that keeps us here. A lot of people say it's the money, but I think it's a people thing more than anything else. There's definitely a buzz, a survival buzz that keeps us together."
This time around audiences can be assured of the usual dynamic, energetic and lively shows they have come to expect from Wonderboom, but with a new flavour that is "City of Gold". Wonderboom, a band that has received 5 South African Music Award (SAMA) nominations in their 11 year history, are sounding better than ever and fans will not be disappointed.
