Well, this is quite a bit after the fact but I thought I'd better type this up while I'm thinking of it. Last August (2007) Stephanie Rearick did a short tour that included 2 nights at The Stone in NYC.
The first night was in an ensemble playing a Eugene Chadbourne composition, "Sacred Insects of Ancient Egypt." The players were Dr. Chadbourne, Barry Mitterhof, Jessica pavone, Evan Gallagher and Stephanie Rearick. They did 2 performances of the piece and both had their own unique feel. The first was a bit more melodic and the second more dense and thick with little scraps of music peaking through now and then.
Two nights later, Stephanie had 2 solo shows. It was a Tuesday night and even though the attendance wasn't great, there were people there and the shows sounded great. I was really excited because the Yamaha grand piano they have sounds wonderful. I hesitate to use terms like "best" but I honestly can't think of a piano that has sounded better. Because of the great sounding instrument, Stephanie played a lot of her songs that don't often get played in concert.
Here are a few video clips I shot of her performance..
