A Never Ending Walk - RUB
By: Agnes Constante (College Student, Music Afficionado)
From the countless groups
struggling for a place in the music industry comes an original, dedicated,
hardworking, and talented trio with much promise: RUB.
The group’s debut album, “A Never
Ending Walk” hosts an impressive collection of 11 songs with musical qualities
from influences including U2, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Marley. RUB also
admirably manages to keep a balance among the styles in the sounds of each
track on their album. With a good number of upbeat songs, mellow songs, and
even a reggae song (The Girl Who Sat Next to Me) it is indeed a wonder how RUB is able to accomplish this while
maintaining a consistent sound in all their songs.
The first track, The Twilight
Prelude is an ambient track that
exemplifies the quality of instrumentals audiences can look forward to
throughout the entire album. The acoustic arrangement of Do It Again is one sound to look forward to in RUB’s album,
especially in the introduction of the song. More upbeat tracks include Love
is Raining and Tonight, both which boast skillful guitar solos worth lending
an ear to. Mellow sounds in this debut album can be found in Las
Vegas Baby and Maybe. Perhaps the catchiest tunes on this record, music-and
lyric-wise are When the World Was Flat and Let Me Take You.
Other songs equally worth listening to on this CD are Daydreamer and A Never Ending Walk.
As stressed, the instrumentals
and the carefully thought out musical compositions on “A Never Ending Walk” are
incredible. The lyrics on the record also manage to be meaningful and relevant.
While the vocals are emotionally passionate, the powerful music and lyrics combined
allow listeners to appreciate the effort put into this original and creative
record.
