Its been a busy week and I continue to be blessed with opportunities to make music with amazing people, some that I know quite well, some I've never met before and some that I'm re-connecting with.
Last Friday's recording session with Galynne went extremely well. Partly cause we rehearsed the shit out of the tunes, but mostly cause the material is so great and that Justin Perkins is really, really good at what he does. Nate Kieser came up from Peoria to play guitar and take pictures. He's funny and plays guitar like no-body's business. Plus, since Galynne is his Mom he's heard the tunes before and really added a huge amount of goodness to every song. Hopefully we can finish it soon so you all can hear it. This kind of thing usually takes a while tho, so be patient.
Galynne and I have been rehearsing with a new band (well, an old band w/ a new name) called Squarewave. It's a dream come true to finally be making music with Jeff and Pat from "Ivory Library" and we are hoping to get it together for ONE show. Rumored to be happening very soon. They haven't been playing out in recent years but have been busy recording amazing music at Jeff's home studio. We are really excited to have been asked to fill out the missing pieces for their live show.
Tonight Galynne and band are playing at Clark Place in Stevens Point, opening the night for Little Marsh Overflow. We go on at 9:00 sharp and play an hour set. Tomorrow I'm playing in Oshkosh at Peabody's with the Tom Waits cover band called "Raindogs" and Sunday Galynne and I are starting a Hootenanny at Cafe Montmartre in Madison. This open jam will be every other Sunday for a month and then if all is going well we hope to host the Hootenanny every Sunday from 8 till Midnight.
Thursday 2/22 The Delta Jets play at Cranky Pat's Pizza in Neenah. Looking forward to playing there again.
