Love it or Leave it: Celeb Fragrance

Love it or Leave it: Celeb Fragrance

JLo, the Duffster, Paris, Sarah Jessica, Kimmora Lee, Celine Dion, Elton John, Mimi, Kylie, The Beckhams…Christina has one on the way and rumor has it Brit is about to release her third. Even author Danielle Steele and tennis player Mariah Sharapova have fragrances in their name.

Are you eagerly anticipating the next release or tired of yet another celebrity endorsement? Clearly the public enjoys the idea since celebrity fragrances have been trending for years now.

We are curious: do you wear celebrity fragrances? Would you purchase a fragrance based on the star attached to it? Do you love the idea of spritzing a little JLo into your day, or do you prefer a boutique fragrance or a classic like Chanel?

I can't focking stand those insipid celebrity fragrances! More like embalming fluid are what those smell like! I would just WISH that BVLGARI would bring back BLACK! That's the BEST scent out there besides Chanel5 and Coco! Another dreamy scent that isn't manufactured anymore was Donna Karen's CHAOS!!! After her husband's death, she stopped producing that juice in the late 1990's. That's also when those 'geniuses' at BVLGARI decided to stop with the BLACK. Idiots they are! Just dang frustrating! And there's NOTHING else out there that comes close to those scents. <sigh> At least I have a stash kept in a climately controlled environment with no to little exposure to light as not to ruin the juice/viscosity!

A lot of those perfumes I tried, and I got terrible headaches. Although, I do wear Goddess a lot,
by Baby Phat /Kimmora.. It makes me sick, but I love it, it has a nice smell. Not too expensive either. Also, one of my favorites that I love to wear, the DKNY Be Delicious, that one smells very good. Just wanted to add my opinion!

I am also sick of these celebrity fragrances, and being that I often work in department stores as a makeup artist, I am even sicker of the people that ask for them. They are definate followers, in the sense that they dress and act like the celebrity whose fragrance they are requesting. Personally, I have smelled them, and most I find tired, just like their celebrity counterparts. The only two that pleasantly suprised me were Sara Jessica Parkers' and Hillary Duff's, neither of whom am I a fan. Sophisticated and light, ones I would actually wear myself, and yet the idea of wearing "Hillary Duff" is a bit off-putting to me, and perhaps the only reason I wouldn't purchase it.

Leave Me Alone

I'm tired of seeing every celebrity w/ their own fragrance, but i will admit i like Britney Spears' scents, and everynow & then i'll come across celebrity scents i like. the Danielle Steel one doesn't smell too bad, but it's for an older crowd, i bought it for my mother becuz not only is it her favorite author, but i know she likes light perfumes.

I would have to say that it can get annoying with Celebrity Scents, depending. I feel that most of these people have made quite enough money already, and they're just being greedy or someone is making them b/c they know they'll make millions b/c people will buy it if their name / image is attached to it---and that's sad but true in some cases. It's the same thing when a celeb does a commercial---it's annoying in some cases.

I admit I do not want to purchase anything with Paris Hilton's name on it, b/c I don't believe there is any real reason for her to be famous and therefore do not respect her. And I say that b/c people are only buying her perfume b/c it has her name / image in most cases.

I will also admit that I absolutely love Britney Spear's Midnight Fantasy, and get an abundant amount of compliments on it. And I don't give a shit if anyone knows that I have Britney's earlier albums, or that one of my favorite songs is "Everytime". But I don't buy her scent b/c I like some of her music. I will continue to buy Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy b/c I don't get tired of the sexy, sweetness of it.
Again, if I like a scent, I will buy it---that's what it's about, isn't it???
I'm willing to give almost any scent a chance---I even smelled Paris Hilton's, but was not impressed. Even if I absolutley loved her perfume, I couldn't honestly tell you right here and now if I'd buy it. So overall, celebs have somewhat of an effect in turning me away from a perfume.
