The webpage is always being updated so keep checking in!!
It's that time of year again folks!!
This weekend some of us are headed down to Portland to be at the Portland Pirate Fest and be part of the number count for the World Record of the most pirates in one spot. http://www.portlandpiratefestival.com/
But we have also begun planning out the BCRF contribution to the Fort Langley Hallowe'en Eerie Nights Of Fright. http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/bc/langley/ne.aspx This year we are taking the Crew of The Jade Dragon and throwing them forward in time. Our 1500s Pirates will be taken from their place in history and repositioned as pirates in the 1700s and relocated to Port Royal. The dark dennison of the infamous Port Royal should challenge our Crew to survive. The story is being written as you read this and the Murrayville Players are preparing to turn the upper portion of the Fort into a Vampire heaven. If you'd like to act, perform and/or volunteer for the BCRF Pirate story please read the posting on Craigslist at: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bnc/tlg/1373214723.html Or send an email to casting@bcrenfest.com
Once more we have had requests for weddings and parties as well as invites to take part in other events, so who knows what is in store for us in the near future. We shall keep you up to date in the appearances that are public.
BCRF lost it's property for 2010. The farm at AldorAcres has been a wonderful location to work from and we had plans to return there but unfortunately we will not be able to. The lovely older couple who run and own the property have called us to say that their health is not doing well and they have to let some parts of their life go, including hosting the renfest. They are happy to write a reference letter for us and are happy to attend our next festivities but can not host anymore. So heads up, boys and girls, BCRF is looking again. Our goal is to stay on the same weekend we were on for this year (2009) but will be changing property. If you are one of those wonderful folk who have been listing us on the internet or in your community please just hold off on location news until we can confirm the location. Thanks folks.
The Jade Dragon and the Village of Steller's Grove have their own web addresses. The Jade Dragon crew can be found through: www.jadedragonpirates.com And the village has it's own domain at: www.stellersgrove.com Right now they both forward to myspaces (the pirates have their own and the village defaults to the BCRF one) but keep checking in and see what will develop. Also note some new Jade Dragon Crew email addresses. If you'd like to get the crew of the Jade Dragon out for a gig or simply say hi we have three new addresses. The general address is: info@jadedragonpirates.com Charity can be reached through: charity@jadedragonpirates.com And Cobbs at: cobbs@jadedragonpirates.com Steller's Grove addresses coming soon. For anything in general or you don't know who to send to or there is no address for your fav character please always use the 'info@' addresses and we will make sure it gets to the right person and in the right direction.
We are still putting a call out to all who have shot video and/or took photos. We would love to get copies of your images for promo use and to provide to the performers who volunteered their time and energy. If you have video or photos please let us know via: info@bcrenfest.com Make sure you let us know what your credit needs to read and that your photos are full size and your video is in a usable format. Formats like quicktime set to the highest quality is fine as most of our performers (as well as ourselves) edit the video to go up on YouTube or MySpace. The highest quality you can get will also make it usable on Television screens and therefore a nice piece of promo.
We are also asking people to keep their eyes open for copies of any of the papers we did interviews with and/or footage of newscasts and/or BTV on City.
Feel free to keep in touch with our members/actors/performers/organisers. Christina Twitters ( http://www.twitter.com/carrhunger ) as do many of the team. Ed Appleby (our Cobbs and online comic strip artist - edappleby), Shannon (Our handmaiden - Shannoon), Kyla (AD and our Irish wench - Kyla_Dawn) and many more are involved with Twitter. You can find them in the people we follow on carrhunger's Twitter. If you have Twitter pop on and check in on us.
Videos are always being added to the youtube page so if you want to check it out please visit: http://www.youtube.com/bcrenfest
Our myspace at: http://www.myspace.com/bcrenfest has many of our performers and command team in the friends section. Feel free to go 'friend happy'.
If you wanted to volunteer this year but was unable to but would like to do so for 2010 then do feel free to let us know via: info@bcrenfest.com or staff@bcrenfest.com and we will archive your email for future reference. We may not have our dates set for 2010 but we do do other things in between and sometimes we could use a few volunteers for those as well. Same goes for villagers, stage shows and interested storyline cast actors. It is never too early to let us know you exist. Please make sure you put BCRF or BC Renfest in the title so hopefully the spam blocker will leave your email alone.
For the 2010 Renfest we are hoping to bring back the bus. Between costs and finding a driver with the right license (who is free or reasonably priced) the bus had failed for 2009. Sorry folks. We tried. We are keeping our eyes open beginning now for all possibilities for 2010.
Thank you to all of you who sent emails to us telling us what services they do use. Do continue to send those emails to info@bcrenfest.com so we can use them to find more support and access to certain services.
If there is a free listing on the net or in a publication that we haven't found yet and had ourselves listed? Does a listing on a page look like it wasn't posted by us and the info is questionable or different from our webpage? Please feel free to let us know so that we can post or correct the posting. Please send an email to: info@bcrenfest.com and we'll post and/or correct the listing. Once more please include BCRF in the title. If you've found us on the net please let us know where you have found us so we can visit the page as well.
Do you have spare fabric, paint, wood and various items we could use to help create the site, banners and costumes? Do you want to find a home for that extra yardage of fabric that you don't know why someone gave it to you, that sheet that doesn't match the décor, the left over half gallon of paint you used for the bedroom. Donate it to us. An email to: info@bcrenfest.com may just remedy some of your clutter. Remember.. Add BCRF to your title and it won't get tossed in the spam trash.
Hope to see you all on the 12th of September.
Until next time.
