DRAGONETTE
It started with a… well, not a kiss, exactly. A festival, rather, where duo-but-not Martina and Dan met to form sardonically witty electronic pop outfit Dragonette, together with drummer Joel Stouffer and guitarist Will Stapleton. From pastiching 80s guitar songs and synthpop in their basement to their dirty, hook-heavy, electropop album, Galore (released Sept '07 on Universal), they've gone a bit of a way. Who else could pride themselves of having supported none less than kings of electronic pop New Order as their second-ever show? Fronted by a dragon in stilettos and hot pants, the band is rumoured to regularly burn stages to the ground. Don't miss their exclusive London appearance at Be ! http://www.myspace.com/dragonetteband
YACHT
Be favourite Yacht is back on our shores and, damn, we're very excited ! Jona Bechtolt, now sided by new member Claire L. Evans, makes anthemic power jams, play them backwards and soak them in nearly-psychedelic cherry cola. He always puts his entire heart and soul in the shows: uncluttered, inspiring sessions of damaged dance moves and synchronized crowd-waving, backed by constantly changing elements - PowerPoint presentations, audience Q&A sessions, and shamanistic video environments. After having toured with LCD Soundsystem, Architecture in Helsinki or Vampire Weekend, he's getting ready for another live summer marathon, with shows at the O2 Wireless Festival, Creamfields or Bestival, and a warm-up at Be this week… http://www.myspace.com/yacht

MARK MOORE
Legendary DJ Mark Moore's life story could be spread on miles of pages, but we are confined to a nutshell so... Shot to fame as the driving force behind the dance/sampling pioneers S-EXPRESS with the number one hit "The Theme from S-Express", he was one of the first supporters of Chicago house music and Detroit techno in the UK and mixed it with electronic European dance music. He worked on remixes or productions with just everybody, from Billie Ray Martin to Carl Craig, William Orbit, Philip Glass, Prince, Malcolm McLaren...; ran three labels in the 90s; invited DJs such as Marc Almond, Blackstrobe, Bobby Gillespie or Asia Argento to his London nightclub Electrogogo; played Boom Box, Nag Nag Nag or Fabric in London, as well as just everywhere else in the world; and has released earlier this year new S'Express record "Stupid Little Girls" on Kitsune. Oh and the man can also act as proved his cameo role on the "French and Saunders" show... Phew. http://www.myspace.com/markmoore

IPSO FACTO
Once Theoretical Girl's backing band, brilliant London-based girl group Ipso Facto bring their monochrome psychedelica to Be for the first time. Citing Can as their main influence, they definitely have something unique about them. "They've taken the snarl, the curled top-lip of early Elastica and married it to a clever gutter-punk twirl that's far more Banshees'n'Britpop-brilliant than it is Faris-rotten", says NME commenting about the recurrent Horrors reference that glues to the ladies, mainly because of their common stylised inclination for all things black and white - hair, clothes, complexion. Playing Glastonbury or the Underage Festival, their show at Be will be their only non-festival appearance this summer! http://www.myspace.com/ipsofactomyspace
STRICKEN CITY
Stricken City play reverby pop songs lingering on lovers and tramps jumping between places and pictures... Fronted by the indestructible Rebekah Raa, they continue to win hearts, minds, legs, feet and necklines all around town. An early show at Be as support to Mystery Jets last year promised great things to come. A winter of dreams and structured play has bourne fruit with the stunning new video for 'Tak o Tak', a free EP download, and a limited edition 7" set to be released on the ever vigilant ACTH Recordings on 28th July. http://www.myspace.com/strickencity

THE LOVELY JONJO
The Lovely Jonjo has been DJing for six years, though it really kicked off for him when Erol Alkan made him a resident at the legendary Trash at The End every Monday night, which made Jonjo an icon of the indie clubbing scene. He is now still a resident at Durrr, where he has flourished, taking the mantle and helping define the new night's identity. You can find also find him spinning the best fresh independent music in all the finest places such Modular parties, Trailer Trash, and, of course, Be! http://www.myspace.com/thelovelyjonjo

UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
Made in France post-rockers Underground Railroad released their debut album "Twisted Trees" on brilliant One Little Indian label last summer, a ferocious squall of a record crystallising the band love's for post punk and New York's No Wave scene. On new album "Sticks and stones" – recorded with Death Cab for Cutie or Blonde Redhead's producer John Goodmanson - the female/male lead vocals are still very present and compelling melodies smoothe over the jagged edges of their debut. Opening act on Dinosaur Jr's European tour, they've also shared the stage with the Thermals, The Long Blondes or Lightspeed Champion. http://www.myspace.com/urailroad
GENTLE FRIENDLY
Daniel and David are Gentle Friendly, a London duo whose music has attracted comparisons to Abe Vigoda, No Age, a less-frenzied Animal Collective or other great UK band Fuck Buttons. They have a support date lined up with HEALTH, and a release forthcoming on blossoming capital city label No Pain In Pop. Enveloping soundscapes, fractured vocal yelps, drums banging... Get ready for a violent assault of energy coming your way! http://www.myspace.com/gentlefriendly
DJ
RORY PHILLIPS
Rory Phillips was main resident at Trash throughout its legendary existence, which bowed out at the end of 2006 after ten amazing years, and has continued to fly the monday night flag at DURR since January '07, as well as at the infamous ...And Did We Mention Our Disco? parties. Rory also keeps a studio in his spooky lock up in Hackney, where he has remixed Chromeo, The Gossip, The Teenagers, and Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat'. He also plays keyboards for the mercurial Whitey, with whom he has recently toured the US and Canada. So having DJ'd all over the world alongside dance music's biggest names, we are happy to welcome Rory's leftfield disco mayhem to the decks at BE! http://www.myspace.com/roryphillipsmusic

BLACK AFFAIR Musical pioneer Steve Mason – the man behind The Beta Band, yes ! – returns this summer with a new solo project, Black Affair. His debut, "Pleasure, Pressure, Point" deals with obsession and dangerous sex, and rediscovers the man's teenage love for house music, electro and dodgy Manchester nightclubs. Mixed with young Detroit prodigy Jimmy Edgar, the result sounds like a magical odyssey round the best 80s clubs, retro yet modern, dark yet euphoric, sexy and sophisticated. First and only London date after his album release, that's us! http://www.myspace.com/blackaffair
THE SHORTWAVE SET
Combining sample-based music and more traditional songwriting and instrumentation, The Shortwave Set's first album was hailed as a "Victorian Funk" masterwork. The Deptford trio then got invited by Danger Mouse to LA (thank you very much) to make their second record. They door-stepped legendary Beach Boys collaborator Van Dyke Parks, managed to acquire a 24 piece orchestra for the album, and tracked down John Cale of The Velvet Underground who also appears on two songs. "Replica Sun Machine" has been released in the spring on Wall Of Sound, to huge critical acclaim, and the band has since been invited by Massive Attack on their Meltdown Festival, will play Glastonbury (twice!), Bestival, and err... Be this summer! http://www.myspace.com/theshortwaveset

THE C90s
London duo The C90s have only recently started remixing and producing their own material, but they already have a few brilliant tracks under their belt, like their remix for our headliner tonight Black Affair, or this other one for Be (and everybody's these days) favourites Late Of The Pier. Inspired by old school disco funk, as well as the "French touch scene", James Murphy, Simian Mobile Disco or Prince, they just can't go wrong, can they? http://www.myspace.com/thec90s
