In 2001, the Member States of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first-ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence - Peace Day - for September 21st.

The weekend of Sept 19th-20th sees the celebration of World Peace day in Ireland's most haunted castle - Charleville Castle in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

This family-friendly event will include various discussions, forums and projections on the Peace theme, dance and drum workshops, dance performances, live music. People are invited to get together and camp for the weekend in the name of Peace.

There will also be a special BBQ area where people can cook their own food
'bring-your-own-drink' policy

Adm is only €10 and includes one night's free camping on the castle grounds.

Discussions include:

# Civilian Peacekeeping - A Road map to Peace
# Music: The Universal Language - Making it Work For Peace

Entertainment will be provided by Peace Zone member artists:
# Live Music: Lauren Guillery, Erik Noon & The Future Gypsies, SuperJimenez, Leanne Harte, Cotton Picking Rodeo Clowns, Ian Doyle, Micheal Whelan
#Dance Performances: The Red Embers Bellydance Troupe and Fire Show
# Indian dance workshops: Banghra, Rajasthani Folk, Indian Classical Dance
# DJ set: The Guilty Boy Association

All activities take place indoors in the castle but stay and camp out on the castle grounds to mark the international Day of Peace
