The Bridge

NEW CD "The Bridge" - RICK PAYNE
The new album by master acoustic blues guitarist, Rick Payne is an acoustic tour de force. Rick usually confines himself to solo work, both on stage and in the studio, but on "The Bridge" he has surrounded himself with a top class crew of musicians, including the great Stuart Gordon on fiddle and Cliff Thorne on bass. Rich arrangements, the finest playing and excellent, mature songwriting all combine to make "The Bridge" one of the finest roots acoustic albums you're likely to hear this year.

REVIEW by BLUES MATTERS
What a lovely introduction to the CD with Rain. The title track follows and moves gently along like slow flowing waters, very restful combination of slide and acoustic. Living By Night opens with melancholy violin before the guitar comes in and builds the song with the violin flowing back, out and in, beautifully constructed song and theme. Not until Little Girl does the drum take effect and something else stirs on this so cool album. Don't Turn Out the Light just melts you as the intro flows, Rick's gentle and easy voice joins and implores. Just loved the guitar work on My day is Done and the tumbling percussion work. 6 Feet under the Ground features rambling trombone and is a fabulous loose combination.
