So you want to know about the comp?

Date: Sat 29th – Sun 30th March
Location: Anywhere in Southampton!
Put simply instead of having a competition at a skatepark, where you have to do tricks on certain obstacles at a certain time, we are giving you a whole weekend to skate anywhere around Southampton!
How it works!
You need to get into groups with a couple of friends and a filmer, so there are three skaters and a filmer in a group, the filmer can skate too if he/she wants! Come up with a name for your group if you want.
We give you Saturday and Sunday to skate and film, and then one further week for the filmer to edit together a video part for your group, we’ll then put the videos up on the shop website and Myspace for people to see and vote on, the voting will go on for one week and then we will be giving out prizes on the Saturday at the shop.
Rather than just having one "best" skater like normal comps we want the emphasis to be on fun, so there will be prizes for best edit, best slam, best line, best trick, most fun, most original spot, pretty much anything we can think of! Bearing this in mind there is no reason for anyone not to enter, even if you don’t feel you are that great of a skater you could still win a prize just for having fun, we have the support of a bunch of companies including: Bones, Real, Listen!, Stereo, 5Boro, Zero, Mystery, $lave, Blackmarket, Broken, as well as Reskue gear so there are loads of prizes up for grabs so start getting your groups together!
Post a comment on here or e mail andy@reskue.co.uk to tell us before hand who is in your group or any suggestions for the weekend
So to clarify the weekend is at the end of March so it’s only a few weeks away, 29th and 30th.
You can start filming stuff from midnight on Friday if you wish (Saturday morning) and film up until midnight on Sunday.
Then your filmer needs to hand in the finished edit by the close of business at 5.00pm on Sunday 6th of April, please bear in mind you need to bring it in preferably as full quality digital video on CD/DVD, E Mails won’t be accepted.
Voting will be from the evening of Sunday 6th until midnight on Friday 11th April.
We will then be giving out prizes at 5.30pm on Saturday 12th April, so groups should meet at the shop then if they can.
While it is up to you where and what you skate, it would be good to go to at least a few parks as well as some street, if you film a whole part at just your local park it will be uninspiring and boring, so try and mix it up a bit with lots of different spots/parks, as long as the spots are in Southampton and surrounding areas thats fine, so Romsey for example is fine.
The edits should be kept short and sweet, just put in your best stuff, 3 or 4 mins is a good guide to how long an edit should be.
While the comp is open to any skateboarders you do need to film everything around the city of Southampton, hand the footage into the shop, and come to the shop for prizegiving, so you need to be local really!
While some prizes will come down to voting the final say will lie with Andy @ Reskue especially if voting seems suspect, so don’t get your nan to vote for you 500 times, we’ll know!
If you have any other questions then leave us a comment, and good luck!

IF it does rain for
more than half the weekend then it shall continue next weekend and all the other dates will move a week too, all the footage so far will count towards it too.
