Who Gives Kudos:

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Hi Everybody,

I apologize for my absence from the blog pages as of late, but as you know I've had my "hands" full with the recent live performance December 6 at the El Cid Theatre in Los Angeles. My special thanks go out to Club M/R/X and the Wolfpak for making this affair so special. They really put on an amazing event that was punctuated by the spinning of Dj Veronica Vasika of the Minimal Wave label and East Village Radio NYC. It was an honor to perform for all my friends and the extremely flamboyant audience. Thank you all, I'm taking this one with me.

For those of you who want to catch up on my activities and read a review of the show you will be happy to know that the "La Weekly" has run just such an article. It can be found using this link:http://www.laweekly.com/2008-12-11/music/mark-lane-resynthesized-a-pioneer-of-l-a-39-s-electronic-minimalist-past-resurfaces/

A very special thanks goes out to the writer Liz Ohanesian for both the article and for posting some amazing photos in my "comments" box at my profile. I will be posting some of them in my pics. Speaking of amazing photos, I met the cool and fun gothic lolita bloger La Carmina. She is a unique and interesting character in the Los Angeles underground music scene. She has posted a photo essay of the entire evening beginning with her cloths and fashion tips, the audience, and my performance. I recommend you visit her blog at http://www.lacarmina.com

Additional thanks go out Jósef Karl Gunnarsson and his friends for making the trip all the way from Iceland to see the show. Jósef has also posted some video and I have posted one of his photos in my pics. The best video and photos I have seen so far comes from Elizabeth Montague. I have embedded her video of "Tsar" on my profile and will also post some of her pics. I went to high school with Elizabeth and it has been nice to reconnect with her artsy existence. Anyone else that has photos or video is more than welcome to submit them. I will greatly appreciate it and probably post your name in one of my blogs.

Plans are already in motion for the next performance and as soon as I have details for you I will post them. Again my thanks to all of you that came out, see you again soon.

   Set list for Dec.6, 2008.

  1. "Atomium" (intro)
  2. "The Concert Wheel"
  3. "Tsar"
  4. "Sojourn" (reworked)
  5. "Halcyon Sentimental"
  6. "White Glove" +

I've said it before but I'll say it again: I SO wish I could have been there!!
I've already had a short report about the event by Jósef by mail, but I will absolutely check out the links and vids! And I do hope I will be able to see you live some time in the not too distant future!:-)

Merry Christmas wishes from Stockholm!

It really was a great show Mark! Thank you so much for the kind words about my photos and video, it was a pleasure. Yes, it has been a real adventure to reconnect with you after all these years, in some ways it's like we never left high school. No, not really, your music has aged like a fine wine and I'm certain that your future also holds great things. I'm so glad that you included the set list here, it really went by very fast though now I see that you played a good long set.
I am already looking forward to your next show!

Cheers,
~E
