As of this date, February 7, 2009, we've raised $526.81 for the purchase of the historical marker.  This leaves a total of $1773.19 to raise.

While the City of Canton briefly expressed interest in the fall of last year in the fact that we were attempting to have this marker purchased and placed it proved to be little more than a ruse to figure out what we were up to.  Some are unhappy that we want to have the marker placed at all.  Others are unhappy by our decision to include Harold Ironshield on the marker.  Others are extremely unhappy with our association to Harold Ironshield and the work he did towards revealing the asylum while alive.  Others fear that it is our intent to destroy their town.  Perhaps if they'd have the decency to ask they'd know without second hand retrieval that it is our only intention to bring the history of the asylum to the public and to make sure that its victims are not forgotten.

While there are some in Canton who do want to see the truth revealed properly there are just as many who want to bury both the asylum and those associated with its history as far from the public eye as possible.  Help us keep that from happening.  Please donate today:

Thank you.

well i guess if their so ashamed that their town did that to others then they should keep their mouths shut. we have the right to know about what happened to our familys and friends while asylum was opened. keep it up people should know what happens to native americans too and how badly we get treated.its not just african americans that were treated like slaves either.
