"WHITE ASHES" A Novel by John D MoultonI have at last submitted my novel "White Ashes" for publication. It's will fall into the Romance/Suspense genre and the general description will read something like:
Rachael Farrington was a fourteen-year-old child of the sixties, sitting on a riverbank, tormented by the words of a petty argument she had just lost to her mother. Moments later her life would change forever as a young boy wanders into her life.
Puppy love leads to intrigue, fear and devastation before young Rachael finds herself climbing from the depths of despair to fight a battle that would see loved ones face imprisonment, abduction and death.
Her opponents were Chief Superintendent Colin Drummond a corrupt police officer, and his henchmen Bruce Branagan a Gorbals gangland thug and Ewan Carlyle, an ice-cold ex-SAS guerrilla with a long undocumented history of death and destruction.
For these three men the stakes were high. Rachael was the key to a fortune lost to them whilst ever she survived. Unable to trust the police, unwilling to share her plight, how could she survive?
----
The story has now been assessed by an independent reviewer who has made amongst many other very positive statements, the following observations:
"This novel has an excellent start. It simultaniously introduces a sense of mystery and promises much to come."
" The author has excellent mastery of plot and this book is a page turner."
"It immediately draws the reader in and engages his or her interest and sense of suspense. This is a highly readable book that had this reviewer turning the pages to find out what would happen next."
"The novel has strong potential for commercial appeal."
----
So now the 'honing' begins and the re-submission for final edit will follow. In the meantime, I am busy painting the cover, which will be created as three individual pieces: Rachael, the main character in the foreground, A motorcycle rider in black sits in front of a large house that takes up the middle ground. Above will be the powerful eyes of Ewan Carlyle, one of the major villains of the piece looking down survaying the scene.
Those eyes are about done and are included here as something of a preview.

Please let me know what you think.
John.
