Finished Doc Snoc tour a few weeks back. That was a good set of shows. Props to everyone who helped us out and showed up to the performances.

Spending time writing and reading, mainly M.M. Bakhtin, "Dracula," and "Thor: The Eternals Saga" by Roy Thomas and co. Have also recently been obsessing over Eggs Over Easy's record "Good 'n' Cheap" (produced by Link Wray in Tucson in 1971 or so).

A couple other platters in or on the machine:
"Of Rivers and Religion" by John Fahey and His Orchestra
"Ten of Pentacles" by Sam the Sham (anyone have a copy of Sam's solo record "Hard and Heavy"??)
"Beware the Shadow" by Help Yourself
"Communication" and "Understanding" by Bobby Womack
"The Bull's Night Out" by Sleepy LaBeef
"Mercy" by Don Covay
"Such Sweet Thunder" by Duke Ellington
"Wanted: Dead or Alive" by Kool G. Rap and DJ Polo
"To the East, Blackwards" by X Clan
"The Big Doe Rehab" by Ghostface
"Valley of the Jeep Beats" by Terminator X
"The Best of Roy C" by Roy C
And so much more. I know what I like, and I like more every day.

The Messenger performs in California coming up. December 27th at the Silverlake Lounge in L.A., and December 29th at The Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco. Joining us at the San Francisco show will be the legendary Banana, who played in The Youngbloods, produced a lot of records for the Raccoon label, and even made one fantastic one of his own called "Mid-Mountain Ranch." A humble record. Seek it out.

As good sir Alfred Watkins might possibly say, keep an eye on that old straight track. There's something it's trying to tell us.

xo,
mc
