My friend Kody and I decided to go roller blading, today. The venue of choice was Richfield. For those of you that don't know, that's out in Deatsville. Kody skates there often since that's the neighborhood in which he resides. After suiting up with our blades and helmets on, we coasted through the neighborhood. One of the best things about skating in richfield is that once you get to going downhill, there is an uphill stroll after that to slow you down. All except for this one. I found my heart racing as I was steadily getting faster. I looked ahead frantically for an uphill climb, but the only thing I could see ahead of me was a four way stop with another downhill slope after it which only ran into a cul-de-sac. About this time, Kody and I are blazing at probably something like 35 mph which doesn't seem so fast until you're on skates. There was a grassy spot right before the intersection, so I accepted defeat and headed for it. Once my feet left the pavement, I felt an explosion on my head much like the one that gave me a concussion a few years back. Then, I saw the sky and heard Kody laughing quite loudly as he had been the whole time. The two of us had probably slid about 30 feet or so before stopping. Luckily, I was wearing a helmet and only suffered a headache, banged up knee, and scratched up shoulder. Kody scraped his hand, but we survived.
On a different note, have you guys seen these Chuck Norris facts? I've heard a lot of them, but after my recent first visit to chucknorrisfacts.com, I was teary-eyed with laughter.
Grace and Peace,
Chuk
