Each year close to 50000 people from around the world unite in the Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada for 8 days in what is known as the Burning Man Festival. It takes place in Black Rock City, a temporary community erected from the ground up each year by Burning Man participants, and its name is derived from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy, the Burning Man.
Burning Man represents something different to each participant, it has been described as a life altering spiritual experience. It is considered by many as modern day experiment in community, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance. After his recent trip to Burning Man, Fabio Genito was inspired to dig deep into his sound library and pull out classic sounds that have inspired him as a producer and dj from the beginning of his career, creating this interpretation of what Burning Man means to him.
Although it contains some passive aggressive elements, like the fierce analog bassline which hammers away at your conscience, laced with dubbed out effects and ricocheting drum hits, it does so in a soulful, non-destructive way; the way a rain storm nourishes a dry hungry forest, leaving behind a breathtaking trail of blossoming flora after it has passed. Fabio fuzes all these classic sonic elements into a futuristic, avant-garde musical journey. Think deep-dubby-spiritual-afro-..tribal house music. A truly inspired and inspirational piece, and an essential gotsoul records release.
