Category: Music
On November 23th, 2007, I was Inducted into the Musician's Hall of Fame as a member of the "Wrecking Crew". It was like a wonderful dream. There I was in Nashville, Tennessee, on the stage of one the most beautiful concert halls in the world. The Schermerhorn Hall is like a European Opera House. The sides of the wall have at least four stories of seats in balconies. The house was packed up to the rafters with enthusiastic music lovers from around the world.
Since the opening of the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, the Hall of Fame has sent ballots to professional musicians, producers, engineers, and music historians across the country requesting their nominations for inductees into the Musicians Hall of Fame. From this pool of Nominees, the Musicians Hall of Fame Advisory Board chose the inagural class for the 2007 inductees.
On the stage were seated the Blue Moon Boys, The Funk Brothers, The Memphis Boys, The Nashville A-Team, The Tennessee Two, and the Wrecking Crew. Seated next to me were all my old friends and Studio Musicians, Hal Blaine, Jim Horn, Don Randi, Larry Knechtel, Mike Deasy, James Burton, Billy Strange, Al Delory, and Lyle Ritz. Each group took turns performing some of the songs that we originally recorded.
We played on so many recording sessions together, many times we played on 2 sessions per day. The Righeous Brothers, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" Sonny and Cher "I Got You Babe", and so many more.
I am deeply honored to be included with these legendary musicians in the Musicians Hall of Fame.
Happy Holidays to All,

Don,
On first meeting you, I realized that you were a real musicman and a very nice person. After learning of all your body of work, I now know that there is something truly spiritual about it. I've had many very good days in my life listening to all of those meanful tunes that you and your crew created. I only hope that you don't stop with this award. Life today can't survive on yesterday's music alone. So what's new on your schedule.
Peace, Arlic

Don, I am so excited to see this! Congratulations. I know you've played with some of the best. Now I understand why you've been so busy. Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy "twenty-o-eight"!

Big props and congrats. Glad there's a hall of fame for the cats who really made it all work! I recall both Jim Horn and Larry Knechtel had places out in the woods not too far from Bellingham back in the early 80's when Treetops and I lived and played there-as I recall Larry's son had a band called the Sharks........great stuff
