The Calling
(Zoë Records)
Mary Chapin Carpenter

There's something comforting about Ms. Carpenter's work. It's mature and uplifting, high-minded and accessible, and delivered with controlled passion. This album, her 10th, is a gentle-rocking collection about character, commitment, faith and fate. And romance, too. The artful sincerity in her writing and delivery permits her to communicate such sentiments without becoming maudlin. Tributes to the Dixie Chicks and victims of Hurricane Katrina go down easy, which doesn't mean their barbs don't sting. She's supported by an expert band that includes the inestimable guitarist Dean Parks and keyboard whiz Matt Rollings.
AVAILABLE March 6.

I have enjoyed M.C.C every since I heard her perform ..I'm The Opening Act ..on an awards show.....

I was fortunate enough to see her in Reno...the same time she was recovering from knee surgery. It was very windy....and the band had a hard time keeping their balance on stage...lean against the wind, the wind stops blowing...easy to fall on your face.But...the concert was flawless...

Waiting for the new album

Deb

There is an incredible softness & sweetness to Mary Chapin Carpenter's voice that I have never heard in any other singer. From the very first time I listened to 'Stones in the Road' I was hooked. I love her story telling ability within her songs & she makes me stop & really listen to her words. I think my all time favourite Mary C.C. song must be 'This Shirt'. Who knew that such a heart breaking song could be written about an old shirt! There is great beauty in her words.

I had the supreme honour of being able to see Mary live when she came to Melbourne, Australia a couple of years ago. I was totally mesmerised throughout the entire concert. What amazed me the most was that her voice is even BETTER live than on her CD's!!! I have all her albums & will continue to look forward to more. Also - go out & get the DVD of 'Mary Chapin Carpenter - Live at the Wolftrap' - fabulous stuff!!!

MCC-Thank you for another work of brilliance! You are one of the best singer/songwriters of our era! I cried when I heard Houston for the first time. Your gift is appreciated more than you'll ever know!

Your lyrics are pure poetry, your voice pure smoothness. I have loved your music and talent since Come On, Come On. I can listen to that one over and over...but all of your work is brilliant! Thanks for being who you are.
