Lollapalooza
....
This past week has been a world wind! Between playing 2
shows, going to Lollapalooza, and hanging out with some great friends that were
in town for the amazing festival, I am officially exhausted. I’m at home
currently in my pjs, eating some mac and cheese taking some well needed
R&R. Don’t get me wrong I am not complaining at all for the crazy past
week…I had more fun than I’ve had in a very long time!
....
Thursday we decided to do a bit of a lollapalooza pre party
at Kingston Mines in Lincoln Park. I was lucky to get to hang out with my
friend Geoff, who works for Converse, that was in town from Boston, as well as
a bunch of his friends. It was a bit of a late night filled with some of
Chicago’s greatest Blues! The great Joanna Connor was playing on the small
stage! If you haven’t seen her play yet you have to check her out!
....
Friday morning I was in the studio recording a new song
called “Holiday”. I can’t wait to
show you guys. The song shows how much I have grown as an artist since
recording my first record and exemplifies the direction my music is headed in!
But as soon as we were done I ran off to Lolla! I unfortunately missed Black
Joe Lewis and the Honeybears but Ben Folds made up for that. It shocks me how
much great music is packed into one weekend. After Ben Folds I saw Fleet Foxes
whose harmonies just make me melt. We got to escape the rain for a bit when we
jumped over to the 2016 stage to check out Thievery Corporation. Thanks to
Geoff we hung out in the Citi cabana for a bit and dried off. After that we
head over to check out the end of Andrew Bird and ended the night with my
favorite band of the entire weekend, Kings of Leon. Ever though it was so
packed we could barely move they were fantastic. To think I had 2 more days
left of killer music.
....
Saturday started a bit late due to some unfortunate
circumstances involving my car but that is an entirely long and unrelated
story. We missed the Arctic Monkeys unfortunately but we did get to check out
Lekki Li who really impressed me. She has a killer stage presence that I
haven’t seen before. Ben Harper rocked the Playstation stage and to top off a
pretty eventful Saturday I went over to the Chicago 2016 stage and experienced
the crazy live show of Tool. We ended back into the Citi Cabana so I had a
killer view although I was mesmerized by the crazy videos they had.
....
Sunday was much less hectic than the last two but
nonetheless it was a blast. I was so exhausted we ended up having a pretty easy
day. We saw a bit of Dan Deacon who surprised me. I didn’t know much about his
music but he really took control of the crowd. Vampire weekend was killer but
my all time favorite of the day was Snoop Dog. Half of the crowd was just
waiting to see the Killers but I was jumping up and down to all the old hits.
We had to leave after Snoop but all in all if was a killer weekend. Sunburn and
exhausted I now had to get ready for shows Monday and Tuesday.
....
Monday I drove down to Indianapolis to play with Gareth
Asher and Miggs. My friend Ernie Halter was supposed to be there as well but he
has to fly home to LA for something. The crowd was fun and I was really
impressed by the guys. We played the following night in Chicago at Martyr’s. It
was great show and a great way to end the craziest 6 days of my life. To make
the entire experience full circle we all went out to Kingston Mines that night
and I let Gareth and Miggs enjoy some killer blues music.
....
I hope you enjoyed my long blog. I didn’t really know a way
to abridge such an eventful long weekend. Hopefully I’ll have some more crazy
adventures to write about soon.

Oh I had to post these pictures of my best friends cat too. Parker is the goofiest cat I know and when I took these photos he was sleeping under the knives and then he decided to pose a bit for me. Too cute!
