Written for Luna

Rose pedals fall on my restlessness.

Years fly by waving missed opportunities at my senses.

I grab eternity and question its significance.

No response.

I awake from my slumber and corner my struggle.

Everything is a figure so I proceed to add it up.

The sum is daunting so I stop counting.

Water courses down my body in the shower cleaning the filth of my skin.

I wish it would mimic that action on my soul.

Later, now the sun is shining bringing forth a new day.

New in the same way, every breath is new.

It is not the same breath but it is still the same air.

So, I mix it with weed and tobacco.

Drown that with liquors that blend existence with reality.

But, there is an entity that wishes to chill with me.

Is it you Holy Spirit? It is and he releases a tranquility I once knew.

I let it infuse me.

After a while, I go numb and leave my flesh.

My body lies below me.

I see a cigarette butt in my hand slowly going out.

The Holy Spirit directs my essence towards the island I once called home as a child.

He makes a stop and embraces me.

A load disintegrates from me.

All that matters is revealed to me.

I see my errors become insignificant in his presence.

"More" I say, "give me more".

He smiles the most beautiful smile I have ever witness.

I did not know spirits could smile.

A song surges forward from him and binds itself to me.

"What time is it?" time has stop. What is time?

"Exactly" he answers.

We head back to my body.

Its naked someone robbed it while I was gone.

I beg him to take me with him.

Again that lovely smile.

"I am in you" he says "you just have to find me".

I descend back into my prison.

The song he gave me vanishes.

Sorry lord, I am not worthy.

My flesh overpowers me.

A feeble attempt to fight it leaves me with several addictions.

Every once in a while however I hear a low hum from within me.

It is the Holy Spirit humming our song.

And in rare instances, I catch glimpses of his smile in the waste around me.
