Current mood:  sleepy
Just a short distance from where I live, there's a pretty major intersection that often has people in various stages of dishevelment begging for money.  They are usually situated on the median with their illegible cardboard signs, and I don't think I've ever once seen anyone stop and give them money.  I'm sure it happens, but I've just never seen it.

Just the other day, I was leaving to go to work or the gym or something, and there on the corner were two guys panhandling.  That wasn't so unusual.  What caught my eye was that one of these guys was dressed in a suit and very well kempt.  And this wasn't some cheap suit either.  It was nice.  So right after I notice these guys, I see that people are slowing down to give them money.  There was a line of cars with hands out.

I don't know what was going on, and I couldn't read their little cardboard sign.  But I had to wonder if these guys had LOOKED like they needed money, would they have gotten any?  I just found the whole thing ironic, and I was left to wonder for the rest of the day just who the heck those guys were and what had led them to be standing on a street corner outside my apartment complex.  It just makes you think.
