Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
This was a comment I made to a girl that wrote me about haters at her HS.
And the first line about Jeff and Jordan is not there to bash them. The girl had their picture under the myspace heading heros, is all...

I don't know about Jeff & Jordan as heros....
Mighty Mouse is a Hero.
UnderDog was a Hero.
Immodium AD has been my Hero.

Have fun, work hard, play harder, don't ever let anyone hold you back, never be afraid to take a chance, be true to who you are not who others want you to be, be real, have fun, be smart, live your life don't let life just happen, have no regrets, take no prisoners.

Anyone can have a job working in a cubical, look like everyone else, act like everyone else, do what everyone does and conform to what society tells you you need to be.

But it is the people who don't conform that change things in our society, they change the perception of what is acceptable and not, the push the boundries, they open the doors, they change art, music, fashion, they change the world a little at a time.

Most people don't have an original thought in their head. And if they really tried to, their heads would explode. So, they do one of two things.... They do nothing but repeat things they have read or heard without knowing anything about what they are talking about, and stand behind it as if God himself came down from the heavens and wrote what they read on the stone tablets like the 10 commandments, but it was really some message board where they pretend to be someone else. Or they steal the ideas of the nonconformists.

So, fuck 'em all and make your own path in life. And even though it is not the easy route, you will find that even though you started this journey alone and had been ridiculed by most, that somewhere along the way you will look back and see that you lead the masses and they are now following you.

Well, this turned into a little bit more than what I had intended it to be. But, it was written for you Julie even though I am going to post it in a blog, because I think other people will be able to appreciate it as well.

Like I said, that was no knock on Jeff or Jordan in any way shape or form.
And now you tell me that them being there was unintentional, lol...

Glad you like it and always remember it.
But also remember, that is the toughest path to take.
The easiest does not always mean the best

It is a big world. They are the big fish in a very small pond and when they are put into the ocean.....
And I agree with you.
But the reunions are fun.
I grew up (mostly) in North Long Beach. My HS was next to the freeway, the other side of the freeway was Compton.
So, there are a lot of my class members who have died, a lot in jail and a lot of blue collar workers. But everyone has dropped the bullshit by even the 10 year reunion and even the people you hated and hated you, you will end up bullshitting with and have a good time talking to.

At my 20, I ended up having about 10 people come to my place and we all sat around smokin' dope and tellin' stories about our lives and what we knew about the lives of the people who didn't go.

It was one of those nights where everyone promises to keep in touch, but nobody ever does. Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes. Which is why you need to realize when you are in, and enjoy those moments to the fullest when they are happening.

And it is strange that HS has such a significant impact on who you are and what you become, when it is such a short time span in your life.

Hey Dick
I grew up mostly in Malibu and my life believe it or not was not that different from yours.
My HS( Private) was in an old apartment house in the middle of North Hollywood across from North Hollywood High.
So, there are a lot of my class members who have died, a lot in jail and a lot of blue collar workers. Teachers were smoking dope with kids and the principal even ended up marrying a student in 12th grade.
Coming from two totally different backgrounds things really weren't that different. The  biggest being is that nobody wants to have any sort of reunion or find know what old best friends are up to now. Now it is one of the most expensive private high schools you can go to. I wonder if the things going on then, are still happening now? Hmmm....This or course was in the 70s. The best times were at the Rainbow.

Ahh  the mystery of true life.  Even us cubical dudes will surprise you.  Laugh at the bizzare office things, yet no one even knows.  Motorcycle madness at night, yet never dwell on that fact to cube mates.  Purchase one of evel dicks shirts worn on the famous show, yet quietly enjoy.  No I have no hidden axes and don't walk in the night.  ( sound's creepy, could not resist).  Takes all types to keep some of us happy.  Party on Mr ED.

i was fired months ago for being "disruptive". i wasn't disruptive, i had a brain and used it. i thought and spoke for myself, and for others too chicken to stand up for themselves. just because you are in a position of power, it doesn't make you right. i do appreciate your words, and how they ring very true. thanks, i'm happy to see that someone else believes that too.

my heroes
i tend to hold
strong people in high regard
those who have endured
impossible pain
but rose to smile again
those who have crawled
their way out of dark places
those who rise above
the talk that cause pain
those who show
compassion
for the less fortunate
those who are courageous enough
to speak out
on unpopular positions
those who do not
hold their life up
as if
it were a blueprint
for the rest of us to follow
those whose love
is constant
and not wavering
on the tide
of your current popularity
those who are kind
those who are authentic
these are my heroes

Hey E.Dick.
So I posted a blog quoting a majority of this blog, because I felt i could relate to your perspective, and I got tons of SHIT for it. Some people I know were so offended saying it was implying that people who work or work in cubicals are conformists who have no brains and just follow the herd. I was so pissed at how everything was just twisted into something it wasn't. Idk I love your perspective, and totally agree...

So, I offended the cubical people? Is that worse than calling a little person, "The M word?"
Give me a motha fuckin' break.

Do any of them really want to work in a cubical?
When they were a kid and they took tests to see where they excelled,
did theirs say their true passion in life was to work in a cubical?

I was just using that as an example, conforming to, the bits of compromise you have to do in
order to have that job, that house, those 2.5 kids and a mini van to take them to soccer practice.
Do you really want to wear a tie? And those are some snappy and shiny shoes, but aren't you more
comfortable in tennis shoes? Those slacks, don't they kind of cut into your nuts sitting in them?
Do you wear those work costumes on your own time?
Ladies, one word..... pants suit. Are you kidding me?
In your off time, does polyester ever touch your skin?

Our society dictates how you dress, talk, look (hair, ear rings, make up, piercings, color of hair, nails and make up.

Why?

Are you telling me that you would do a shittier job in that cubical with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt?
Of course not. It is all part of conformity. Dress like your boss and you might get that promotion.
Look like me, act like me, talk like me and maybe one day when we feel you are truly one of us,
you will get that promotion. It's endless compromises that chip away at your ....self, your being, your uniqueness, your heart and your soul. So, now you know how to lie acceptably and it is what is expected from you.

In biz, I call people out for being full of shit and they have no idea what to do.
That is not how the game is played. You must go along with how we play the game.

Are you completely honest with your boss? When he says he wants your input, does he really?
Do you worry that he will steal your ideas and present them as his?
How many ridiculous meetings are you in a month?
How many things could you contribute to your company that would cut your redundant work load,
but they don't care, because THIS is how WE do it here...?
How many people that have a job that is equal to yours in the company and say 1 or 2 levels above your position are actually competent at their jobs and really care about their work? Or do they fuck around on their computers as much as they can get away with and still get their substandard work in under deadline.

Who left more of a lasting mark on the world, well our world here in America anyhow..
Nixon or Ford who held the office of President of the United States during the Vietnam war...
Or the Hippies who protested against it?

But if life were fair, the guy that invented the ball point pen would be as famous as the biggest rockstar, or the guy who invented the T-shirt.

And these people that hold us back as a society because they can't squeeze enough money out of you if they cure you or if they give you a product that won't break, wear out or need replacing, or actually fucking works in the first place! And you would think with the billions of $$ they are taking in that they would be happy to help when their product fails to deliver? Noooooo..... It's somehow YOUR fault. And when they completely fuck up, they will never admit it, they will give you well rehearsed lines of bullshit they were taught and most people swallow, because if they didn't you wouldn't be getting this bullshit excuses in the first place.

I mean are they never at fault? The employees act as if they replace, fix or refund you, that they will have to eat welfare cheese for the week.

Just once I would love to hear.... "I am terribly sorry sir, we fucked that up... let us fix it for you"

And you cubeies don't get so offended, you know what I am saying is true.
And (like the guy above) even though you are a weekend warrior and you go cow tipping at night,
you have your hair biz in the day, but watch out...! I have a faux hawk at night guy..
I am speaking in very broad generalities of our society in general.
I am sure there are plenty of cubeies out there that are world changers, they just do it one cubical at a time is all.

End of Rant...

Dick, this was one of the instances that made me like you as a person on big brother. Yes I also like your confidence, your outrageous ways, but the soft spot was never hidden real well. You are a true human being with a great big heart. You say what you mean and mean what you say. Gotta respect any person in this day and age that has the gonads to stand up for what one believes in.
Julie, Also remember that the haters become the ones that need help later in life. They are not without issues themselves. They just choose to take it out on everyone else. Be strong, be who you are and make a difference. YOU BE A HERO!

I am the executive producer of Bluegrass Run, a feature film being shot as we speak.  I have followed you for quite some time and these words really have hit me square between the eyes.  LOVE what you said.  We just had an ugly situation where I had to let someone go for valid reasons and he went on a rampage against us, got our imdb link put on suspension and slandered us in the news.  I believe it's because we are holding OUR film and it's crew and cast to higher standards.  He got let go because he refused to work with others.

For a time I wanted to cover my head with a pillow and forget my dream because this ONE idiot hurt me personally, and our production in a huge way.  I'm happy to report that goodness always wins in the end.  I marched according to my gut and goodness has prevailed.  YOU should do the same.

EvelDick,
I AGREE with your point of view not the ones from the narrow-minded conformists. I had beyond HAD IT with those people. Many times I had to be subjected to stares and unsolicited messages from those morons (like you had to endure from Jameka and Amber on BB8), and I am better off ignoring them and deciding my own path. Like the Metallica song that was popular in the early 1990s "I dub thee (those people) unforgiven."
YOU are my hero. NOT them.
