Somehow its mid-Spring already and we Smittens have been busy as honey bees churning up some swell tunes for your enjoyment later on this year! Recording takes a while, especially when you want everything to be super awesome, but we promise you that when we finish our new record it will have been worth the wait! Besides, our most recent album, A Little Revolution (available at www.northofjanuary.com) , is barely 10 months old! Were still grooving to that one and we even have a new video (our first) to share with you! Beware, it is a little bit scary and zombie-riffic! Its for our song My Favorite Dream See it here:
My Favorite Dream Video
As you know, we filmed this a few months ago (with our friends at Sweet Racket Productions) and a lot can change in a few months time. For example, Max has already come to Vermont and gone back to Leeds and during that time we were able to play a fun Smittens show with our pal Brett Hughes (who also shared his p.a. system thanks Brett!) at the Monkey House in Winooski and take a long weekend trip to Twee Valley Manor for another recording getaway!
Well, it was a most productive trip and it left us all feeling pretty twitterpated as we head into the home stretch to finish up the new record. We even added a couple new songs to our work pile baby, dont you know and gumdrops in fact we dont even know if these will be the titles, but both songs add a little extra sweetness to our album in progress and we are excited to share them with you soon!
Shortly after that we got a really nice note from a little label in Italy called My Honey (www.myhoney.it) asking us to consider contributing a song to a compilation they are putting together. Of course we said yes, and soon we had another song on the pile this one so fresh, we dont have a name for it yet either, which seems to be a recurring issues for us Smittens.
First we still need an album title, and then we still need to come up with titles for a few of our new songs and (as if that werent enough) we really really need your help this timebecause we have an addition the the Smitten family and she needs a new Smitten name! Super yow!
Yes! You heard it right! We are pleased and honored to announce that the Smittens are now a 6-piece band! Yes, kids, there is a new Smitten in town and her name is Emily Hilliard and she has thus far been a fantastic addition to our team! She sings, plays violin, banjo, and guitar, and nose harp, and is really sweet and funny and good-natured and talented and gives us an extra energy boost! Emily also plays in a couple other groups about town Hammer and Saw and The Home Items, both of which we wholeheartedly recommend to you for a good time. Having a new Smitten thus far has been exciting and fun for us, mainly because it gives us a whole nother ingredient to play with in terms of our vocal blends and instrumentation, carpooling, gardening, etc - plus it makes it more even when we all share a table!
The only problem so far is that we havent been able to decide among ourselves what her new Smitten name should be. Would you be willing to help us? We already have the Dashing Smitten, the Charming Smitten, the Lady Smitten, the Littlest Smitten, and Greek one but whatever shall we call the new Smitten? We wanna have a contest and are accepting suggestions at

also, Dana may want a new name, too! This could snowball, but its far too warm to worry about that now!
Rock us whenever the mood strikes you and we will be sure to keep you posted on our progress. Were currently plotting out our summer tour route down to Athens for the HHBTM popfest and back again and are hoping to visit some new places on the way! Hopefully well see many of you soon! If not, well, look for us on the big screen one of these days we should be wrapping up a final audio overdubbing session for the Green Movie very soon and then all we have to do is wait for the big release! If we learn any new details, we promise to share. Well get back to you once our tour plans are finalized.
