I discovered this just five minutes ago.  Apparently, the big Toni Basil hit "Mickey" (which I've always suspected had something to do with anal sex) is a COVER SONG!  There was a new wave band called Racey who did the original version as "Hey Kitty" back in '79, a good two years before Ms. Basil's big hit version.

Now class, pay special attention to the lyrical differences in each equally-frothy version.  Apparently the boys in Racey didn't find Kitty quite so fine that she blew their minds.  And from the dubious materials I've read, Ms. Basil herself changed the title because she had a crush on Mickey Dolenz when she was the Monkees' choreographer.

Okay, now for the pop quiz!  Little known fact, but as a baby I was irrationally terrified of this song.  By what age do you think I was finally able to listen to it without getting a case of the terror shakes?
