300 Urban Soldiers
7 The LORD said to Gideon, "With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the other men go, each to his own place." 8 So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others. Judges 7:7,8
Long before Frank Miller's Comic was developed into a movie...and in fact long before there were even Spartans...there were 300 hundred warriors who took a stand against a military force that vastly out numbered them, and unlike the Spartan 300, these soldiers were victorious...and they lived to tell of it.

As a kid no story compelled or intrigued me as much as the one that involved Gideon and his 300 men.  I think these days many tend to overlook the significance of the story.  In the coming weeks were are going to be doing several different post/stories and articles all developed from the story of Gideon and  his 300 men.  Our goal is to motivate and encourage our modern day brothas and sistas to begin to trust God completely regardless of the situations that they may be facing in life.

We want to shine some light of Gideon and how many of us have a lot in common with him.  I think that many would be shocked to discover that when God came calling on Gideon dor a mission to help deliver His people...that Gideon was far from what anyone would call a hero...in fact to be honest by modern terms he was a coward and a punk.  God found him hiding and cowering.

Cowardly as Gideon was, it is how God addresses him that caught our attention as a kid...God refers to Gideon as a Mighty Man of Valor...and Gideon is like "Who me?"  God never addresses Gideon according to how he was actually behaving but rather How HE(God) saw Him and the potential Gideon possesed to be just that a "might Man of Valor."

Like most of us Gideon had a hard time belieiving that God has the right person and again like most of us he keeps pressing God and looking for proof that He had the right guy...as if God makes mistakes (sound familiar...nah you don't do that ..do ya?)

In any case we want to invite you to stay tuned this week as we take a closer look at this story as well as give ya a modern day version of the story, until then Mighty Man or Woman of Valor...trust God and start steppin out in faith...those obstacles and armies that seem to be blocking your path or terrorizing your friends and family are nothing in comparison to the might and power that God has made avalaible to ya!   So come out of hiding and start experiencing Victory in Life through Jesus Christ!  Peace & God Bless!

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  Rom 8:31
