...So, we left the balmy Italy, it's great food and crazy, party people and headed again up north, following the path of the roman legions through alpine passes and meadows full of fresh milk and gas stations overflowing with swiss chocolate. Man, this sounds weird. But it's true.
After a quick stop overnight in Freiburg, we found ourselves in Frankfurt to finish the german adventure of ours. Nachtleben is a great club, right downtown Frankfurt, carrying the flame of non- conformity in an area full of shopping malls, shishy restaurant and tired looking business people. Great sound and one of the best club production people we have ever met- Lee, or Lee Harvey Oswald, as he changed his name to, is an amazing guy, made us feel at home from the first to the last minute we were there. As a touring musician and front of house engeneer workaholic, he knew exactly where we are after 25 shows and helped us give our best. Great heartful audience too, even though it wasn't the underground scene we are used and accustomed too. So we left the city happy the next morning and off to Benelux.
First stop in Amsterdam, new place called Studio K- we would reccomend it whole heartedly to anyone not graduated to Paradiso or Melkweg. Sounds like a TV studio, crispy clean tone, you don't have to blast your mind to have a great show. We've been talking to Valentina- a dervish style dancer, jusr relocating from Barcelona, to perform on "Zumbul" and this turned out to be one of the most magical experiences of the whole month! She made us play like maniacs and we help her twirl dervish style for 8-10 minutes, have no idea how she survived! Met a great dj the same night- Kinga Lazslo, a hungarian implant, which played one of the craziest sets of balkan- hungarian- romanian- slovenian stomping tunes, while dancing on the dj table the whole time, trying to kill her gear with passion. Would play with her any day!
Next to last show at Atelier 210 in Brussels. Promoter there was Lazar, famous for booking Wickeda and bunch of other good Eastern bands into the gloomy west. Show was kind of a birthday present for him, needless to say the alcohol was flowing like a river and everyone had a blast. Good show.
Back to Holland for the last show in Alkmaar and a flight back to Seattle the very next morning. I wish someone had told us how great this night is going to be so we can book a day off to recover before the flight. Great squatted punk rock venue, excellent sound, room full of people, many of which travelled from all over Europe to see us one more time and say good bye. And to go make a mess out of themselves in Amsterdam, of course. Even our old drummer, the man, the legend, the bulgarian american stud Bobby flew from Oslo to hang out and talk road stories. We finished the night disoriented, groggy, running to the hotel for an hour of sleep and a shower, so people on the plane don't think we just crawled out of some pig pan.
It was difficult saying good bye to all friends, to our crew, even to the goddamn van that we spent a month of our life in and couldn't stay inside a minute longer. Chris took off to New York, Gino got lost for a week in Amsterdam( just came home in one piece, greek gods be praised!), Sasho, Zcwik and the Metelkova crew headed back on a 12 hour drive to Ljubljana and four of us hopped on the plane to Seattle.
We are sure we've missed many, many of you, friends, music pros, club folk, to thank to, but it is difficult to acknoledge everyone in such a brief review. If we omitted to express our gratitude, please excuse us, we are a band with a short attention span anyway:) Not the smartest either...
Hope to see you all next time, with new songs and exciting shows for everybody involved.
One more time- Thank you all!
