Hi All

On Tuesday (January 1,2008) www.myspace.com/jonathanscomic and www.barringerlabs.com will become the home for my daily web comic strip  Ladies & Gentlemen. Many of these pages where originally
intended for publication as a full form comic book. Many of you may even have issue 0 which was released in February 2007.  I am a perfectionist and have start stopped many times with releasing the issues to the public based on imperfections created by myself and printers. The story of Will Barringer and his friends has been in my mind and heart for ten years now and I feel the need to force my own hand in releasing it to consumption. I hope you all follow it on either www.myspace.com/Jonathanscomic or www.barringerlabs.com .  I want to address some concerns below.

WHATS THE DIFFERENCE IN WEBSITES?

At www.myspace.com/jonathanscomic you will find a very interactive experience. Every day in the pictures section you will find the newest installment of the comic.  I will be using the photo comment section as a message board of sorts where I welcome the readers to chat with me daily on how the story and art is progressing as well as just everyday stuff.  The new Myspace subscription to a friends updates will also allow you to have a daily reminder of the comics goings on if you wish. I will even set the pages musical selection to represent the mood of the comic or what I was listening to while drawing the art.

www.barringerlabs.com is a more straight forward approach that will progress into hopefully the ultimate L&G experience with links to be able to buy the original pages. Donate to the production budget via paypal and hopefully chat with other readers eventually as well.  At first this will be the less personal site, but it is important as a way to view Ladies & Gentlemen without having to have a Myspace  account.

HOW DO I READ IT?

Admittedly the story was meant for 15 page issues. The pages have been redrawn and the dialog tweaked to allow it to read as a daily web comic. That said, I promise there will be days (especially in the beginning)
where a days strip will feel like it didn't stand on its own. I will work hard to make sure that doesn't happen often. you may find a need to check in at the end of a week or maybe month. I am confident everyone will fall into their own groove. Me as an artist and writer setting the stage and putting on this little play and you the reader who will be consuming and hopefully enjoying it.

WHY DAILY?

Believe it or not the daily format works for Ladies & Gentlemen. I conceived the book as a comic book soap opera with all the action happening off panel. I am much better at the talking heads stuff as a trained portrait artist. I wanted you to see the result of a big event and the lead into a big event or twist and elude to it through dialog. Instead I will be giving you one full sized page on Saturday and Sundays to allow for the action we have been teasing all week to play out in front of you. That Monday you will see reaction and an eventual buildup to the weekend to come.  I hope this will play as my take on a realistic hero version of Dark Shadows

WILL THIS BE COLLECTED ?

Definitely. I hope to collect it either the six month or one year mark in a hard cover trade along with pinups from some of my favorite artist friends of the Ladies & Gentlemen cast of characters.

please feel free to ask any further questions.
