Indie writer/director Jeff C. Smith gave Fango the first word about his upcoming feature EVERYBODY DIES AT SCARYCON, which is currently in the process of casting and raising its finances. The project reunites Smith with producer Sara Parrell and many of the cast from his previous horror satire, STUPID TEENAGERS MUST DIE!
In EVERYBODY DIES AT SCARYCON, a low-budget filmmaking team attend the titular horror convention in a remote location to premiere their fright feature EVERYBODY DIES. “And, of course, something goes terribly wrong and people start getting hacked to pieces,” says Smith, who admits that “some” of the storyline is based on his own experiences. “The exciting part of SCARYCON for me is the cameos we’re lining up. This is a horror convention, after all, so we’re gonna fill the place with icons of the genre. If you’ve seen Robert Altman’s THE PLAYER, this is the horror movie version. We can’t tell you who’s going to be in there just yet, as we’re still ironing out the deals, but I think horror fans are going to be very excited once we announce our cast.” Keep your eyes here and on the MySpace page of Smith’s Off Set Pictures for updates.
