Over Christmas 2008 and New Year 2009, Neil Finn has invited the core band from his 2001 Seven Worlds Collide project, plus some other special guests, to create a new album at Roundhead studios in Auckland, New Zealand.

Guests confirmed so far are Radiohead's Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien, legendary guitarist Johnny Marr, founder member of The Smiths and current member of US alternate rock innovators Modest Mouse, Soul Coughing's Sebastian Steinberg, multi-instrumentalist Lisa Germano, Wilco members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone, Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, along with NZ musicians Liam Finn, Don McGlashan and Bic Runga. All proceeds from this very special recording will go to support the continuing great work of Oxfam International.

And look out – if you think this is just going to happen behind closed doors, you're mistaken – Neil plans to share this unique event with music fans in New Zealand by presenting a short series of intimate and informal live performances at:

The Powerstation, Mt Eden Road, Auckland, NZ
Monday, 5 January 2009
Tuesday, 6 January 2009
Wednesday, 7 January 2009

Tickets go on sale on Monday, 24 November through
Ticketmaster

All I need is a current passport and enough money to travel to NZ...lol ! :-)
If I could be at these shows, that would be the most amazing birthday present (my birthday is 6 January).

Wow! I have often shared the 1st Seven Worlds Collide as one of my all time faves. I hope there will be a CD/DVD combo available from this one as well. Keep the cameras and recorders rolling - we don't want to miss a thing!

How exciting! One small request:

Could you also put out a DVD of the concert footage for those who cannot attend the live performances? The last DVD was a great look into the process and a great show too!

Maybe the DVD could have some footage of the recording process as special features?

Thank you for your work over the years. The CH songs and Neil's solo material have carried many of us through good times and bad.

Phenomenal !!!

I don't know which of the guests that I'm happier to see on the list of invitees that'll be playing. Bic Runga is such a needle in the haystack and is definitely not as known as she should be here in the States.

Wish I could be there ! I look forward to getting my hands onto the cd !

A fabulous group of musicians assembled here! The first 7 Worlds shows were amazing and the DVD stands as one of my favorite performances to watch whenever I want to see what true camaraderie on stage looks like. One can only hope to see brother Tim and Eddie Vedder back in the fold as the date gets closer!
