This one started out as a guitar study, then turned into a rumination on the inner searchings and journeys of the spirit and soul, told through a the eyes of a medeival explorer... although I think the general theme is pretty timeless. This concept is one that I think about often, and one that drives a lot of my writing... and this is one of my favorite lyrics about it.
Brave New World
Sailing through the night
Guided by starlight
Trying to make landfall
On a distant foreign shore
With a compass and a sword
Ready to stand tall
Solitary Missionary
Looking for a Brave New World
A new beginning
Among the living
Gotta find a Brave New World
The early morning fog
Parts and I set off
On avenues unknown
Over mountains and through streams
Through bleak and barren dreams
A journey made alone
The mile markers
Push me harder
Sometimes I hate the life I chose
There's something better
It's now or never
Because the devil's getting close
Through the wilderness
The promise of a kiss
Beneath a northern star
That shines down from above
Kiss the one I love
A love that comes so hard
Solitary Missionary
Looking for a Brave New World
A new beginning
Among the living
A place to let my flag unfurl
Find a Brave New World
