Current mood:  good
Several months ago, I was approached by the Canadian underground poet & performance artist Alice P. Ougler regarding her book, entitled "These Poems," fated to be published Summer 2009, Smockadoll Förlag/Press, Malmoe, Sweden

Alice explained her idea - to publish, along with her book, a compilation album of musicians she personally handpicked. The album, “The Ougler Sessions”, would include several artists interpreting her poems in English.

The poem I choose to interpret is called "Dead Weight Tonnage." The composition was tracked, e
ngineered and mixed by Daniel Sanint, Dubway Studios, NYC at the beginning of June and then mastered by NY's best, Paul Gold, Salt Mastering. Per our agreement, I am not at liberty to release the track myself but I will tell you that I used a TON of reverb, created some wicked vocal/AH multi-track layering, played out some moody organ drones and that there is a special tremolo guitar track laid down by Mr. Kyle Avallone (myspace.com/kyleavallone)!

This was a liberating process for me and has and will undoubtedly positively effect my future musical compositions! Since the words to "Dead Weight Tonnage" belonged to Alice, there was less personal pressure to adhere to some of the habits and equations I utilize when creating songs. This new found freedom gave me a new outlook on my creative process!

I will keep everyone posted as to when it is released to the public, but for now, here are some pictures from the studio session!
