Bought me Dad the dvd collection of Dad's Army for Christmas. And seeing their old WW2 helmets got me thinking...
What a terrible design! OK so the Germans had a few years in advance to design and prototype a proper helmet design but people please...
It protects virtually nothing, it never fits properly ("one size does not fit all") and it is laughable on the head of an 'aggressive fighting machine'. It's a wonder the Nazis didn't lose the war by falling about laughing and surrendering at the same time!
Did someone just use the blueprints from the helmets of the English Civil War several centuries earlier?
