It’s now day 15 since I started my Double fisted fast and it ended double fisted style on day 12 with a beer, a shot, a Moose taco, and a sliver of Moose quesadilla. We had dinner with Andy and Rita whom we hadn’t seen all summer. I didn’t hear back from Mary, which said go with how you feel.  I felt it was time to get back into eating so I could get my system primed and ready  to party with all my friends Thursday evening at the Viper Room. So by dinner on Monday, I decided that I would have a beer and a shot, and that lead to having a taco and a slice of quesadilla at the Moose in Fawnskin. ....

I had read so much about the importance of juicing for several days after the cleanse and was planning on doing it.  Somehow at the 11th hour on my last day, I wanted to see if I could push the bounds and go against what I read and do it DM style.  I am into pushing the limits and I refused to believe that I would become deathly ill if I jumped back into solids right away and I didn’t. Let me tell you, all is well in “DM Country”. Had no problem eating a salty greasy great tasting taco. I ate it slow and savored every bite. Every sip of beer was like a sip of heaven. I felt great then and continue to feel great with a new sense of power I hold at my fingertips. I think my body welcomed the sudden change. It’s like everything in this world, if you can keep your body guessing and keep your mind on it’s toes, you can break old patterns and continue to see things in new ways which is what it’s all about.....

 ....

I firmly believe mind over matter is the key to health and happiness. This cleanse has shown me that my mind has really become tuned in to optimism and a mind over matter approach to living that is paying off in so many ways. I have a solid foundation under my feet to keep on a path of a balanced lifestyle that works for me. Stopping my diet the way I did was a risk and I wouldn’t recommend it for anybody else unless you have a strong stomach and an accepting mind. By that I mean, you need to know how you think, you’re patterns, your past experiences and what your capable of and what your not. I rarely ever get sick, I don’t take aspirin, I’ve got a high tolerance for pain,  I don’t take flu shots, stay away from doctors as much as possible, and have twice experienced eating something that gets everybody sick except me. I don’t know what this is, luck or some crazy fluke, I just seem to be able to take in a bit more garbage than the average bear before I have to spend a night hovering over a toilet. ....

“The DM Double Fisted Fast Blog” served me well to write about, reflect, and record my  first experience at fasting. I am looking forward to my next fast and the many benefits and discoveries that lie ahead. You only go around this merry go round once per visit, so why not have a good whirl while you’re at it.  I’ve been told that a good life is worth recording and staying healthy is part of living a good life. ....

The last two days have been amazingly productive. I have jobs lined up for the next month. I’ve got some paychecks coming this week.  We hosted a fun dinner party on Tuesday, Peg’s health is good, and I am looking forward to playing the Viper Room Lounge this evening and seeing some old friends. ....

The “DM Double Fisted Fast” didn’t create all the good that’s going on in my life right now, it didn’t change me over night for the better, and it won’t protect me from taking a fall in the future. What it did do was gave my mind, body, and spirit a chance to be accountable to my own will without losing site of the big picture going on around me. Sometimes that’s a good thing to learn to master and if it doesn’t hurt anybody in the process, I’m all for it. It’s little steps like this that help make the world a better place and isn’t that really what life is all about.    ....
