We've been a little slow to join the Facebook Revolution, but we're finally there.Got a page?  We'd love to be your friend. This time we'll even give you the right link to the page!!!!  Oops!

We've got some good stuff cooking, and now is the time for MAJOR action.

Rock for a Remedy on Facebook!

Hunger is reaching critical levels both in the US and abroad. The recent Midwest floods have yielded unimaginable tragedy with well over two MILLION acres of agricultural land lost for the season to flood waters, and another three million acres are expected to be beyond saving. Those in the immediate areas of the flooding are finding themselves without food or water, and the local food banks are struggling to deliver. Our friends at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank lost thousands of dollars in non-perishables and were forced to scramble to relocate remaining product. America's Second Harvest is calling for at least $150,000 in donations JUST to help Midwest food banks recover from damages and lost food. Already soaring crop prices have increased even more as a result of the disastrous flooding, and there is no end in sight. Nationally, food banks are reporting a 20% increase on average in the number of people turning to them for help now compared to just one year ago.

ACTION ALERT:
Biofuels have caused world food prices to increase by 75 percent, according to the findings of an unpublished World Bank report. While we at RFAR fully support the use of alternative fuels, this is inexcusable. There has to be a way for biofuels to be produced and distributed WITHOUT endangering the lives of hungry people all over the globe.  RFAR began discussions around this issue with some major players in the world of Biofuels late this spring, and we'll be issuing our OWN report with their input by fall.
