Beholder magazine have conducted an interview with Revenant Dead frontman, West. The full interview is below:

1) What is the exact name of your band?

Revenant Dead

2) Where did you come up with it? What's the meaning behind it?

The word 'Revenant' means to rise from the grave, to be re-born effectively, which we felt encompassed so many different things, both personally and professionally we wanted to express with the band.

3) Who are your current members and what instruments do they play?

Theo - Drums
Darmer - Bass
Ayd - Guitar
West - vocals

4) What genre would you put yourselves into?

I'd say we cut through several genres of music, though mainly we'd be under the metal section in the music store.

5) How would you describe your music to someone?

There is riffs that get in your head and just won't quit, a real up-beat, energetic sound that really motivates the crowd either by moshing or, for the slower numbers like Morphine, starts a real 'lighter in the air' moment.

6) Are your songs political, personal, fictional or something else?

All the songs are of things that have happened to us or someone we know, and the things that happened because of them.

7) Who are your influences?

Influence-wise we're really quite eclectic; there's a definite bedrock of metal and rock in there but also jazz, blues, even bluegrass and funk.

8) Describe the type of person that would be a typical fan of yours?

We seem to have struck a chord with a few different types of music fans. One gig we had a group of death metallers all the way from Sweden on the front row, so we seem to have a pretty wide appeal.

9) Do you have any existing promotional materials we could share with others for you?

Sure. You can buy our first album Imperial Rape March from iTunes or Amazon or any digital site. And our new album is out soon.

10) What is your song writing process like?

Well, myself and Ayd are quite prolific writers so it's a pretty natural process for us; there's always a few songs on the back burner waiting.

11) What are your songs typically about?

Like I say, things that have happened and trying to find some kind of resolution or reason as to the what and why, y'know, describing the world how we see it.

12) What image do you think your music conveys?

I think it conveys a positive, confident stance, empowering the listener to stand up against the things they may feel are keeping them down or trying to control them.

13) What is the ultimate direction for your band? Are you seeking fame and fortune?

The great thing with this band is we have the flexibility to go in any direction musically whilst still retaining the sound that makes it us.

14) Did the recent passing of Michael Jackson affect you as a musician?

Naturally, it's a shame, but he left a legacy behind that no-one since Elvis has managed to achieve.

15) Do you feel your music has changed since you first started?

Musically, we've become more confident in ourselves, knowing we can really push the sound we hear in our heads through the amps.

16) Do you have another outlet other than myspace that your fans can access your music?

We're currently signed to The Orchard, so the album's available worldwide from any music site - like iTunes or Napster - or off our own website.

17) Any opinion on the recent Kanye West incident at the MTV VMA show?

Well, if I was a marketing company, I'd be taking notes.

18) Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering support?

Just the fans, dude, whose energy and support can be really humbling sometimes.

19) What do you hope your fans get from your music?

A reason to stand up, kick ass and chew bubble gum.
