I've just spent an hour talking to my lovely S.O. about the technical aspects of the Steam Punk genre. It is his favorite genre, and there really doesn't seem to be a lot of it out there, so when I came up with an idea I wanted to play with last night, naturally my thought was to come to talk to him about it.
What has come out of that conversation is the basis of a trilogy, following the passage of magic, magicians and the secrets societies in each age, starting either in Medieval or Dark Age, across to Regency Period (this is intensely inspired by all of the Historical romance I have been stuffing myself on ever since
Regency Romp came out, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!) and finally, into the Contemporary and slightly futuristic, where magic makes its comeback by taking over a global corporation. This last one is a stand alone idea that I've had and been working on for a little while already, so I feel quite inspired to greatness and many future books off this idea.
Speaking of many future books, I am still working on
Tidal Wave and its follow-up book, told from a different characters point of view, but even with the lovely Regina Paul's help, writing there is going slow, and I think my magical based story idea is somehow going to take precedence. Oh, it's a hard world.
Not that any great deal of writing is going to get achieved
this weekend, cause this weekend, I'm getting my computer formatted!
