Each year around Kirsty's birthday fans, friends and family gather in central London to celebrate her life.
The 2008 Soho Square celebration has been acclaimed by those who have been there regularly as "the best yet". We think there were over 100 people and the usual pub was almost too small!
Claire Iden, as always, did a fantastic job and we are all deeply indebted to her for arranging everything - even to getting the bench put back in its rightful place (it was unexpectedly moved during works which were done on the Square recently).
New fans gathered with the old ones, from Australia, San Francisco (John Meranda making his 8th visit!), Eunice from Holland, Francisco from Barcelona and our great Norwegian band who have become very popular with us all. Then the Irish, Scots, Welsh and English joined as one to sing Krsty's songs with gusto.
The boys - men now - love this day as I do and brought their friends. Louis and I left about 6.30pm as he had to go back to Bristol Uni. Jamie stayed until the end! Philip Rambow and his family were there. A young fan of 19 years told me his mother introduced him to Kirsty's music when he was small. He will bring his mother next time.
For all those who supported Claire with running the programme, many thanks. I just sat back and enjoyed the day. I hear that next year there are big plans for a whole weekend of activities! Keep an eye on the usual websites over the next 12 months for the latest plans.
