OK -

For those of you who want to message me and tell me all about how Christians should not "pirate" DVDs or CDs - please do so at - www.kissmybible.com. I  bought every DVD I am sharing and if I want to rip it, share it, dunk it, break it, punt it or use them as frisbees - that's my business.

And let me further add - the RIAA and everyone else who is UP IN ARMS about this whole issue of illegal downloads and ripping CDs and DVDs are fighting a losing battle. The idea that you can control what I have after I have bought it from you is like me going to a restaurant and having the chef pissed off about me bringing a doggie bag home for my dad. What's he gonna do - charge me double for my turkey club?

THIS IS WHO THE RIAA REPRESENTS - (taken from their own website) The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is the trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry. Its mission is to foster a business and legal climate that supports and promotes our members' creative and financial vitality. Its members are the record companies that comprise the most vibrant national music industry in the world.

How many years has this "recording industry" gouged and overcharged people for material, only to turn around and give the artist who created it .01 to .07 for every copy they sold? Where I come from that garbage is called "Congeo" which loosely translated means "being ripped off". How artists can sit back and stand on the labels side knowing what a  raw deal they got and continue to have is insane to me.

They might say - "hey wait a minute, if it weren't for the label - I wouldn't have the success I have now..." To that I say - OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH. Every artist I have ever known has had to sweat it - to get it. No one fell butt backwards into success. What the labels give artist - very few artists actually, is exposure and contacts to get more exposure. They don't give artists talent and drive, so please don't give them more credit that they already give themselves.

What the labels see in recording artists is the same thing managers and agents see in actors, atheletes and writers... a free lunch. Once you have the contacts to promote one artist you have them for all of them. Nothing is tailor made for anyone - all artists are represented in the same manner and with this final thought in mind. HOW MUCH CAN I MAKE OFF THIS PERSON CONTINUALLY RECYCLING THE CONTACTS AND VENUES I ALREADY HAVE OVER AND OVER AGAIN?

You may think -"oooo Pamela is anti-label." I guess you can say that but I am also anti-lazy, anti-stupid and anti-giving up control of your life and career. I can guarentee you there is NO artist who gets more out of their label deal than the label. Which is why most artists when they have become a household name - re-negotiate to have a 51% control over their careers or they simply leave to strike out on their own getting back 100% they gave up in the first place.

Just look at poor, bald headed, today I am British, tomorrow I am Spanish-Chinese, Britney Spears! The money, the fame, the exposure and in the end she has become the "joke" of the industry. But I will bet you her record label will drag her back into the studio for one more album because there is no such thing as bad press. The more outrageous, the more scandalous - the better chance people will pick up that last album before she becomes a permanent resident of Whispering Pines.

I have friends that are on labels. I have some that struggle with the deals  they signed on for and some who are willing to just live with whatever is handed to them. I know a few that feel their label works with them to get their material out there and others who feel their label does nothing for them other than get them the minimal. NONE of them believe their label has done MORE than they expected for them and that is sad. It's like having musical slaves and that crap is just wrong.

That is why the RIAA are now sueing consumers. You think they are worried about "the artists" they represent? YEAH RIGHT - these people are so far up those label's hineys they can see their tonsils. Hey, if the labels can't suck the artists dry for more than 90% - we won't be able to get our cut soon. Let's go after the ones who BUY THIS STUFF - yeah, that's the right thing to do. That single mother who has 30 limewire downloads of Micheal Buble and Nickelback - let's get HER. $29,000 for every song she downloaded sounds fair to me. *Pfffttt*

Let me tell you something RIAA....Every "hacker, pirate, ripper" - etc has bought CDs and DVDs - for yearsssss. Payback is a *itch isn't it?

And let me say as an artist - if I had to choose between some kid rippin my material and letting 10,000 people download it for free or getting a piddle of a royalty check from you people I would GLADLY just give it away instead. The moment you started sueing people is the moment I became LUMPED IN with your stupidity because you supossedly represent artists on a such a grand scale. Gee thanks - you snapperheads!

But I digress...

The best thing labels and the RIAA can do for themselves is to simply take the hits - because they deserve it. And don't give me this mess about how they are going under...so they pull in millions instead of billions. HOW MUCH MONEY DO THESE PEOPLE NEED? Those diamond shoes too tight? Not enough Bentlys for the company picnic go-cart races? GET OVER IT because I have.

Dear RIAA, learn how to engraciate yourselves with your artists and consumers, after all they keep those Benjis comin'. Give them better deals - even if that means you take a lesser cut - and work your tails off for them because they have families too. I know most will continue to let you mooch off of them much longer if you do. Be sure to offer your consumers fairly priced downloads, free DRM samples and free programs that are easy to navigate and for GOD's SAKE listen to what they would like to hear instead of "forcing" your focus group's retarded market perceptions on them.

By the way I feel the EXACT same way about Hollywood and the Studios who make movies. They are as bad - if not worst that their audio recording counterparts. For every movie I have ever paid an $9.00 ticket to go see (not to mention that $12 bag of popcorn - yeesh) there is a payback link below. Time to even out this one sided media suckage, bit by bit, I will be doing my part.

SAP - Ok people I ripped a couple of my DVDs and uploaded them to a personal storage space on the web. The links will remain active for about 90 days then they will be deleted. I will be uploading more as I back up my DVD collection in WMV of Divx formats. They can be watched on your computer but I wouldn't recommend burning them to a DVD - the resolution is only at 539kb. They each take about 400-500 megs on your computer.
