The Academy is a cover I wanted to do for a very long time. The original is Massive Attack's beautiful closer off Danny the Dog's OST. Whenever I listened to it I could imagine some sort of beats kicking in at various points in the original and I'm surprised that they didn't make something much more epic out of it. But the simplicity of it is epic in itself and it serves its purpose better than I thought it would in the film. The track is made up of a very simple set of piano chords playing over and over into a sort of crescendo and I tried to keep that into the cover.
The idea came whilst making an essay on David Lynch's Blue Velvet with the help of Freud's On Dreams and the soundtrack that this track belongs to is one of the most dream-inducing ones that I've yet to hear.
