Mes soeurs et frères:
I am left almost speechless. Almost. But I can't stop myself from uttering just a few words of gratitude to everyone, for all the effort and sacrifice in making our first Insurrection such a seriously frolicking party. Our Montreal hosts outdid themselves in pulling this off, and despite the cold temps and fresh snow, I simply can't imagine a warmer welcome or a hotter night. Thank you so much to the Chaotic Insurrection Ensemble (who never looked or sounded better), and to all our old and new friends north of the border.
Who knew resistance could be so much fun? We did, we do, and we need to spread the word. Saturday night, we spoke volumes through our music and merriment, and most particularly, in Olivier's clever and beautiful portrayal of who we are and what we do. "Honk You Very Much" reveals not just our wonderful diversity, but even more amazing and compelling, it captures the three-dimensional and exquisitely ephemeral spectacle we make happen in the streets. Like our performance, Olivier's film is full of heart and soul and defiance, both a telling document and a promise of the radical fun yet to come. I can't wait to see it again.
Finally, I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all the Friends of Honk who made the long day's journey to blow the roof off the Lion D'or. I am still in awe, and I tip my conductor's hat to each and every one of you for a show I'll never forget. Bravo!
Peace and love to you all.
