I was in NY this past weekend with three female Marines (Gunny Noel, Sergeant DeCaprio, and Capt. McGrath) from "Band of Sisters" to help launch the book during a huge book expo.
The book signing went amazingly well. The positive response was overwhelming to me and even moreso to the female Marines. Our signing time was 9:30-11 Sunday morning. A line had already formed before we started signing. We signed more than 250 books over the next two hours, stopping only because the Gunny and I had a plane to catch. If this is any indication of the future of Band of Sisters, it's going to be very, very exciting for ALL women warriors.
Former U.S. Rep. Pat Schroeder stopped by our booth and chatted with the female Marines, and last night my publisher ran into former senate majority leader Bill Frist at a restaurant. They gave Frist a copy of the the book, and he said he would pass it along to President Bush.
The publisher said it was their biggest and best signing ever. Stay tuned.:):)
Best,
Kirsten
P.S. If you don't know it already, I'm selling Band of Sister T-shirts. They're very cool.
