With a critically acclaimed album already under their belt and a tour set for the United Kingdom in May, Collapsing Cities are undeniably hot property right now. On Anzac Day Eve the band bid their fans and friends farewell by treating them to an intimate gig with a MySpace Secret Show at Auckland's Backbeat Bar.

Collapsing Cities' sound harks back to a time when seminal albums were recorded in dingy basements and Dunedin was the Mecca for any self respecting Kiwi Guitarist. They recall the heady days of Pavement, the nostalgic sounds of Joy Division, but with a present-day twist echoed in their infectious dance floor rhythms, and honest lyrics about modern life. Seeing them play live it is not hard to see what all the fuss is all about. Playing a set largely comprised of songs from their debut album 'Elixir Always' their loyal fans knew all the words to favourites such as 'Fear of Opening My Mouth' and 'Seriously.' Getting into the spirit of the gig James and Tim both took a break from the stage to join their fans dancing down the front. Afterwards the band were on hand to sign the limited edition hand screen printed posters MySpace created for the event, even telling us it was the best artwork they had seen for Collapsing Cities.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the show, we hope you managed to grab yourself a poster and enjoyed the show. A special thanks to Collapsing Cities for the great show, Paul McKessar, Universal Music, John Baker, James Brown and Joanna Alpe for their assistance.

Make sure you add MySpace Secret Show as a friend so you're the first to find out who is playing next.
