No, I didn't. On Saturday the 26th of July a tree fell on our house during a storm. We were away in New Hampshire but our neighbor left a message on our machine telling us when it happened. It landed on the chimney and didn't separate from it's stump.

Our landlord took two weeks to get it removed! After having 3 or 4 different companies come and look at the tree she finally settled on the cheapest (I'm sure) company. Of course, when they came to remove it on Saturday the 9th they decided that the power lines were too close to remove it. So they asked for the power company to take the power lines down. I tell you, trying to coordinate between a non-English speaking miscommunicating landlord, a bureaucratic power company and a white trash tree company is like herding cats. The power company never came on Saturday or they did and were told to go home depending on who's story you believe. I had to leave the house by the request of the tree company for safety so, I don't know how it went down. We had to reschedule for Monday. Of course, no one at all came on Monday. Wednesday was the next shot. The power company and the tree company agreed to come at that time. Ah ha! But, the power company's utility department called and claimed there was no appointment. Typical of any company – the customer service department and service department are at odds. Well, luckily the white trash tree people called the power company directly and bitched them out until they showed up. After all that nonsense, the power lines were down, the tree was down and the power lines were back up all within an hour and one half. They cut up the tree, packed it in their truck and carted it away. Thank you, goodbye – don't come again.

The landlord paid them in cash because she probably doesn't even have a checking account and everyone left. The lawn is covered with tire tracks from trucks. Mowing the lawn the other day was an adventure. Up, down, up, down – Woah.

Samantha the cat is doing well. We give her the medicine for recovery from her surgery. After a check up on Monday, we will give begin giving her cancer medications. The prognosis is that this is very treatable cancer and 1-2 years being her expected lifespan. Let's aim for 11 or 12 more years instead.
