I found this to be of interest and thought it would be of special interest to photographers. We're living in paranoid times and more and more people seem to feel threatened by photography. I was just reading another article about a Boston photographer that has been harassed by police for shooting in a public place. There was a link in the article to a downloadable pdf version of "The Photographers Bill of Rights". This is a good idea and something all professional photographers should carry in their bag just in case you run into a situation where you are being hassled by police. I know from experience that this does happen a lot and is getting worse all the time. I've been harassed at least half a dozen times while shooting in a public place with the most recent being 2 weeks ago while shooting moving car lights from an overpass at night. Someone reported seeing me and apparently they thought I was a suicide getting ready to jump from the bridge. 3 police cars with flashing lights pulled up as I was taking pictures. The whole thing was actually kind of funny. I explained what I was doing, handed out a few business cards and told the officers to have a good night. I'm not going to get into detail. But, I have run into other situations that weren't so pleasant. In such cases it might be handy to have a copy of "The Photographers Bill of Rights" handy. Here's the link to a page where you can find a downloadable version.
