It has come to my attention out on the road that some people may not fully understand what the Amp and Stomp Loop features do on the RP1000 which is the reason for this little blog. These are two key features in the RP1000 that make it such an AMAZING machine!! So lets get to giving you a MONSTOR tone!
The Amp Loop feature does just what the title states. It puts your amplifier into the loop allowing you the choice to use either your amplifier’s preamp, or the RP1000’s preamp.
When you plug your RP1000 into your amplifier using the Amp Loop feature, you can set each one of your presets to run in one of two ways; Amp Loop “ON” or Amp Loop “OFF”.
Setup is EASY! Just plug three ¼” cables from the RP1000 outputs to your amplifier’s INPUT and Effect SEND and RETURN.
Amp Loop ON: By turning the Amp Loop on, you are telling the RP1000 that you want to use your amplifier’s preamp instead of the RP1000’s preamp. This deletes the RP1000’s preamp from the signal chain and routes all of your stomp box effects “PRE” your amplifier preamp (just like you would plug pedals on the floor into the input of the amplifier) and routes all time-based effects like reverb and delay “POST” your preamp through the effects loop (just like if you had reverb and delay rack gear plugged into the back of your amplifier). You have now turned the RP1000 into a big box of effects and a switching system to use with your amplifier in whatever way you would like! Whether you want to just run one effect or an entire chain of effects through your amplifier, you are free to do so without having the processor’s preamp color your overall tone.
Amp Loop OFF: By turning the Amp Loop off, you are telling the RP1000 that you want to use one of its 55 amazing point-to-point high definition amp models instead of your amplifier’s preamp. This then deletes your amplifier’s preamp from the signal chain and only uses the power section of your amplifier via the effects send and return. All stomp box effects are still routed “PRE” the RP1000’s preamp while time based effects are routed “POST”. In this mode you will hear, for the first time, amp modeling the way it was meant to be heard instead of hearing an amp model going through your amplifier’s preamp.
So you say you have pedals that you would love to use and just can’t live without? The RP1000’s Stomp Loop feature was designed just for you! The RP1000 was designed to integrate your effects arsenal, not replace it.
Set up is EASY! It requires two ¼” cables to go from the RP1000’s Stomp Loop section on the back of the processor to the input of your first effect and the output of your last effect in the pedal chain.
Once you have your pedals plugged into the Stomp Loop, you can then bring them all in and out of true bypass mode just by stomping on the “Stomp Loop” switch. You also have the option of routing your Stomp Loop effects to be “Pre” or “Post” your preamp section!
So don’t throw away all those pedals you spent your hard earned money on, add them to your RP1000 processor and keep your tone as unique as you are!
So hopefully that helps out in making the RP1000 the choice of processors for you!! If you have ANY questions just ask!!
