The RP1000 is an awesome piece of gear!  You can use anything you want with it, but it doesn't need anything else.  The preamp tones are killer!

I run the RP1000 along with my Orange Thunderverb 50 stack and my Ibanez guitars and its the best sounding tone I have ever heard and played through!
