We've now passed the halfway point of Fairtrade Fortnight - eight days of Fairtrade food down, six left to go.
I really started to miss bread yesterday, and for some reason I also developed a desire to eat spring onions! Not on their own, that would be a little odd. I would have had them with cheese on toast or something, but sadly I have to wait at least another week for that meal as Fairtrade spring onions don't exist, yet...
I also spent three hours cycling around Oxford on Saturday trying to lay my hands on a lemon and some nutmeg. Both of these are available Fairtrade, but no-where near me seems to stock them. If anyone manages to find a Fairtrade lemon could you let me know where you can get them from?
At least I managed to pick up some more muesli and yogurt, which went down well for breakfast this morning. The muesli's made by a company named
Alara, and the rather cool thing about it (I noticed when I was reading the ingredients list on the pack this morning) is that it's "made in a factory powered by 100% renewable energy". This is my kind of muesli!
When Fairtrade Fortnight started last week, someone on the
Fairtrade Woman group on Facebook decided to join me by also eating Fairtrade food for two weeks to help raise awareness of the impact it makes. She's been
blogging about her experiences too.
Unfortunately she developed a bit of reaction to pineapple at the weekend, so has now had to stop, which was really sad news, especially as she'd started earlier than me and had nearly finished two weeks.
Donna, you've been a superstar this last week. I hope you get well soon.
