Many times being an acoustic punk is crap!

We play gigs with other Punk bands (some of them who sound like ass) and what not and there always this sense in the air that you as an artist who primarily uses an acoustic instrument that your songs and music shouldn't be taken in consideration. I hate it!

And then there's those fuckin' stupid guys around the stage who are making such fuss about you playing at a Punk show just because you're playing an acoustic guitar. I belong! Shut the fuck up you shitfaced geeks! I hate them!

And then there's the show's promoter who makes the false assumption that what we do is a one-off novelty thing and should never be booked again as a serious act. They are dead wrong! Pompous fucks! I hate you all!

But I can't go on hating and feeling miserable because sooner or later it will wind back into my essential songwriting and personal music experience. It's a terrible mindset to live in. Can be quite hopeless feeling. You can't help feel you are the only one and the only that can understand you. That's there's no one else who would understand!

I urge everyone that plays acoustic punk that we all network together and get to know one another and help one another. I feel if people outside of what we all do can see there is a number of us all together, interested in one another and even though some of us make songs that are comedical we do not think of ourselves as doing something that is all for a total joke. I feel we can change some steady unopen minds.

I'd love to hear from all of you on what we as acoustic punkers can do to begin a network between artists and the people who enjoy listening and playing acoustic Punk. Should a completely acoustic Punk music festival be started? Should there be a record label that exclusively signs only acoustic Punk? Perhaps a well distrobuted web-zine be made that focuses primarily on acoustic Punk?

I feel these issues need to be addressed. Please let me know how you feel.

I love that idea. Sign me up man. If you want you should start a group on my space for accoustic punk. I'd join. Let me know  if you ever want to put on a show in the future. Cheers Johnny! You rock man.

Johnny!

I think all three should be done. Since we last jammed i got some new drums and became a drummer. It's acoustic! I still play guitar and still work in the city. Kid Nerd was a cool doc. I talked to Shereen at my work x-mas party about it. She said making it made her not so much a geek. Sorry i havn't replied sooner. call me whenever you want.

Happy Valentines day!!!

I think all of those are good ideas. I do at least think we need to keep playing and touring and such with the other sub-genres of punk rock...if we're all working towards the same goals and singing about the same stuff, there's no reason we cant rock out together(no matter what instruments we favor). I really haven't had many problems with other punks and punk bands, it's when i play with coporate style rock bands or singer/songwiter types that are more pop than anything, that there's a problem...

You know e.e.m. I think I'm being alittle harsh and incorrectly directing my anger. I feel I'm mostly referring to the genre of punk rock that went mainstream back in the mid-90's. Those were real brutal days. I shouldn't all bunch it up into the same ball really. Thanks everybody with their comments and it makes me even more determined to find ways to attach acoustic punkers into a solid community of artists.

Almost like a manifesto here; I like it.

Punk and folk overlap so easily that it's amazing the genre gets overlooked.

Happy to report that in alot of cities across the U.S. and Canada there are little scenes starting up with regular show events. We have to access ourselves. If someone who plays acoustic hardcore punk who wants to tour who has a vechicle we should try to tour together. I'm willing to sacrifice time, energy and wee money I have to do it.
What about you?
